Search feature

rheddenrhedden Posts: 6,632 ✭✭✭✭✭
Apologies if this has been discussed before. I have not been able to get the Search feature on this site to work for quite some time. I consistently get this warning:

The page you were accessing requires variables to be passed to it.

Error Code: 100

Is it because I am using Firefox as a browser? Are other people having difficulties?

There have been many threads on this. Just do a search image. It is a function of your browser and the forum software. The one browser I can find that still works is Opera. It is relatively small, free, and runs on all platforms. Some still use old versions of Firefox. I am not sure where Internet Explorer is on this issue as I use a Mac now.

Edit: As an interesting aside, if you use Opera or an older browser to get a valid search result, you can copy the search result URL to your current browser and then refresh it to update your search. I use this to search for all of my own posts for instance.

I've never had problems with Internet Explorer doing the search.
I use IE9 and Windows 7, but have used all the way back to XP and older IE versions as well.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

or use the 'Search Category:' feature in each sub topic (works great), instead of the Search button on the top right (never has worked for me. IE or FF)

On my desktop computer, I can't get search to work with firefox or google chrome as browser. With windows explorer, however, search works fine. I conclude problem is browser-related.

Uninstall the current version of your Firefox browser. Download a version earlier than 4.XX The software that supports this site is so ancient that it is not compatible with current Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome versions of browser software.

Maybe they fixed it. It has always been an issue with FF over 3.6.

I have no problems using "Search" with IE and Windows 7 but I can't see "My Inventory" on the registry unless I fire up Chrome.

What OS are you in? I believe that may have an effect as well. I'm still using Windows XP.

It has always worked perfectly for me, using Firefox.
