At the very least, Spain seems to be very short sighted in their strategy here. It occurs to me that it would have made considerably more sense for the Spanish to negotiate a settlement with Odyssey, and then work with them as partners in any future endeavors in which they might have a claim. As it stands now, as others have said here, I wouldn't expect any other treasure finds to be revealed publicly when a Spanish ship is involved.
I would negotiate the best agreement I could among all the other countries then buy a supply of historical flags for that country from the various centuries and drop them on the wreck sites as I found them. Yes, your honor, this was a Spanish ship, but it's quite obvious that it was captured by ____ (fill in the blank), making it their property and we have a salvage agreement with that country!!!
Not surprised. This will certainly cause OME to get agreements in writing ahead of time or deter them from any salvage attempts that they think they will lose.

<< As for the morality of the Spain government, they stole gold and silver from the Indians so they don’t have any more right to it anyone else. >>
Yeah, I'd love to see descendants of the Aztecs, Incas and Mayans to sue Spain to recover this...
The descendants of the Aztecs, Incas, and Mayans are probably living "out there" with the Space Brothers, and might even have evolved beyond the need to worship little bits of pretty metal

Now how much foreign aid has the USA provided to Spain over the last 200 years?
Let's call it even.
