The famous George Bennett auctions were held at that location several generations ago. It was the best opportunity to purchase rare coins in the greater Los Angeles area.

Mike Aron used to have auctions there a couple of times each year too. Scored many great deals at those auctions even though I sort of discovered them late in the game. It was lots of fun digging through that catalog of roughly 1000 coins in the days before auction, then going to a rapid lot viewing 9am-12pm the day of the auction then bidding on lots of cool coins until early evening.
