A Few Newps recently imaged...

Just couldn't pass this one up... its really flashy in hand

The next one - an 1889-S is intended for my Grandfather's Birthyear Collection...

Speaking of which... here's the 1889 Nickel O/C I picked up in Baltimore...
... when I entered the serial number to my Inventory Page, this popped up:

but - I still wanted my images to be uniform - so here is Messydesk's image:

Which leads me to another Liberty Head Nickel that I picked up from a YN who approached me at Glenn's bourse table.
He asked me what I thought it was worth - I said I had no idea - I told him to go over to Fred Weinberg's table - and the
YN came back and said Fred had no idea of what it's worth either. I asked the YN what he wanted - and he placed a bunch of
NC errors in front of me and announced that he wanted $350 for the whole group... I politely said, I'm sorry, but I have a
liking for the Liberty Head Nickel - but none of the others enticed me. He and I settled on an amount and he left with a smile
on his face and $250 in his pockets, and I got a coin that I found unusual... now... can anyone really tell me if I did okay or
did the YN do this old man in ? LOL... I don't care, its a neat coin, regardless:

When I was a youngster, back in the early 1960's while in the 8th Grade, I started my Lincoln Cent Collection.
Most of the dates I was able to gleen from circulation but I had to buy a few along the way ... the 1909-S Plain,
the 1914-D and the 1931-S. All the others were available from roll searching except the "King" of the Early Lincolns.
The 1909-S - V.D.B. It was the Holy Grail to all of us back then, no one I knew had even seen one, let alone owned one.
I had said that if I ever buy this date, it'll be the last one I ever buy for my personal collection. Well, that isn't quite true
but my collection has become more of a family oriented one - based on birthyears and not set drived as before. Here's
the last coin needed for my childhood collection:

Speaking of Birth Years, I decided to upgrade my Halves in my set:

Although I really don't collect Seated Halves - this one appealed to me - its quite original and those are hard to find...

I have had an epiphany of late with regards to CC Morgans - and I think I decided that I liked them in any MS grade
whether or not they be in non PL, PL or DMPL state. I started noticing these great coins while I was searching for family
member's birth year coins... 1889 + 1891 + and 1921.
Here are a few more that I just added to my growing collection as well as a few for my family [ 1889 & 1921 ]

Another coin for my Grandfather's set:

... and this one is for my Mom's Birth Year set:

In fifty years of collecting - I have always admired the beauty and detail of our Early Silver Dollars and of those earlier
designs, I have preferred the Draped Bust / Small Eagle Variety [ 1795 to 1798 ]. While in Baltimore a gentleman approached
Glenn's table looking for Barber Halves - and I engaged him in conversation. He decided to buy a couple of nice XF 45's and then
asked if I might be interested in buying anything that he had brought. I always defer this situation to Glenn as I was only his
assistant. Glenn went thru the box of 20 coins - selected a couple of stunning Proof Barber V Nickels in PCGS 65 - and Glenn and
the customer concluded their business. I asked if I could look over the remaining coins... my heart sunk when I saw this one...

............................................I finally have a coin of my dreams....................................................
We all make a mistake along the way - but - I also happen to like early Capped Bust Dimes [ although Broadstruck thinks I am nuts ]
and I didn't really inspect this coin throughly at the FUN auction - but won it by an internet bid. Its an ok coin - not as well struck as I
would have liked - but - its a decent fit with the other AU 53's & 55's in the new collection.

Well, that about sums it up ... I posted another newp ... in a separate Thread ... the 1864 Seated Dollar in PC 53 CAC.
This coin actually came into my possession because a YN [ "B" ] aka TAMU15 who was working with Glenn and I at FUN -
had stopped over to see our good friend, Liz Coggan at JJ Teaparty with some of our coins for sale - she was one of my
first mentors when I re-entered the coin market and I hold her in high regard.
Anyway, TAMU15 comes back all long faced and when I asked what was wrong, he said that because of his age, dealers
were not taking him seriously. [ We have all been in his shoes once ourselves] . So, when he told me that Liz had a coin he wanted
and wouldn't discount it because it's such a tough a coin to locate - I said I'd go over to see what it was.
Well, it was a well worn 1864 Seated Dollar - in G4 - not exactly what I would have wanted for myself - but I can understand the
allure of the date [ Civil War era coin ] and the fact that other than normal even wear, there wasn't a bruise or a rim bump on the coin.
It was a perfect coin for the grade. No wonder he wanted it. There was a lot of History contained in that PCGS Holder.
Sitting next to the coin TAMU15 wanted was this coin - and I asked Liz to package price the two coins together - which she did - but the
invoice didn't reflect any discount on the G4 - but TAMU15 had seen a coin like it and had a dollar figure in mind - and I sold him the coin
at the price he wanted to pay - and I got a beautiful original Seated Half that is stunning in hand - the luster is all there under the original
toning. I was happy to have been able to assist the YN - and because of his efforts, the loss I incurred in the transaction was negligible.
That transaction made three people very happy.

Of course I have seen more than my fair share of these and a few DMPLS and I dont think I said anything bad about the OP's coin.
