Jinx86Jinx86 Posts: 3,710 ✭✭✭✭✭
Mostly Barber Dimes for my set and a Bust half Ive had for a few years and have really wanted to see in plastic.
My guess as to the grades...
1892 P 10C AU58
1898 O 10C XF40
1898 S 10C XF45
1898 S 10C AU50
1901 O 10C XF45
1905 S 10C XF45
1906 D 10C AU53
1811 50C XF40

Hope Im right. Nothing really high dollar just nice coins. Will post results....if Im not in tears.

Results are in
1892 10C USA Genuine - AU Details (91 - Questionable Color)
1898-O 10C USA Genuine - AU Details (92 - Cleaned)
1898-S 10C USA AU50
1901-O 10C USA XF45
1905-S 10C USA AU53
1906-D 10C USA Genuine - UNC Details (92 - Cleaned)
1811 50C Small 8 USA XF45
1898-S 10C USA AU53

The one that surprised me the most is the 1898-O Better grade then I thought but I dont remember seeing any cleaning. It was a recent purchase not sure what Im gonna tell the dealer I bought it from. Over all I think I do OK for my first group of coins.

Good luck to you! It's always fun waiting for results. I just sent in a couple of coins and I'm afraid one will details grade. I figure it was worth a shot since the other one should holder no problem. As Tom petty once said, the waiting is the hardest part...

Good luck. Be sure to post the results, not much use to us without them.

  • Awesome. I just made my first submissions as well. Submitted 11 coins total. Some very interesting pieces. Do you mind if I share on this thread as well? (one is a 1942/1 Merc which very well could be a 1950's counterfeit).

Good luck! I just sent in 45 Large cents from my date set. Probably would have been a good idea to write down my grade estimates before sending but too late now.
All coins kept in bank vaults.

Good luck. I just sent in my 8 "freebies" on this years membership as well.
BTW, on the online sumission form I don't recall seeing a place to checkmark the request to slab as Genuine with Deatails... Is that an automatic now or did I miss that part of the form?

DoubleEagle59, I too was thinking it would be a great learning experience for me. A local dealer wanted me to bring them to him for his approval to send it, but I wanted to see if I have learned enough to trust my eyes.

Here is my assessment of your grading skills based on just this one submission. It looks like you grade coins very conservative, but have a little difficulty in detecting some coins with slight issues such as cleaning, etc. With a little practice, you might do well in searching the bourse floor for undergraded coins.
