Im not a fan at all of inflating away the value of a currency, but at least its a better option than straight default and all the ramifications that has on a country's people. If Greece was still on a sovereign currency system, their standard of living might be lower, but they would not have a 50% unemployment rate, nor would they have their hands in Germany's and the IMF's pockets every other month either.
With all this talk of the "puppet" pushing austerity, can there really be such a thing as long as you are a slave to a multi national currency?
Unfortunately, what we see unfolding over there is probably what would happen.....on a MUCH larger scale.....if the world were to ever return to a gold backed monetary system. The inability of a nation to control its monetary supply leads to many severe problems. In a purely "darwinian" sense, that may be a good thing. But from a "humanitarian" approach, it can be devastating.
To those hoping for a return to the gold standard, I hope you get what you want. Be careful.

There is no Baleyville in Euroland. The euro is doomed. The european union experiment is proving to be a failure and can be kept on life support only until the support runs out. The globalists' dream is not going according to plan. What you are seeing on the streets in Greece will spread across Europe.

<< <i>Not everyone defines their terms the same way, obviously, some people don't seem to agree on definitions of such words as "doomed", "failure", "taken away" , "everyone", "TSHTF", "The end of days", "all", "always", "none", "never", "is", and especially "would" and "will" with reference to the future. I'm always impressed when folks claim to "know" the future >>
Observation leads to hypothesis. Not all hypothesis' are proven to be correct. That does not mean we should stop hypothesizing.
I know that your preffered method of dealing with reality is to find some nice, soft, cool sand and bury your head in it. Some of us prefer to take notice of events that could lead to massive changes in the way we live though.

Sure beats the heck out of worrying about a pension that I will never receive.
I'll repeat. The EURO will not disappear. However, I wish it would, cuz that means the US dollar soars to heights never seen before and deflation that would make the Great Depression seem like Disneyland would engulf the world. A scenerio I would relish.
Some people like to dwell in negative and sorrow and believe all is lost. Others look for opportunity. Always been this way. Thats why there are poor and rich. Imagine being 33 years old in 1943. Half your life has been mired economic dispair. How sorry you must have felt for your life and future. Yet the next 50 years, or the rest of your life experienced the greatest techological and medical advances the human race has ever known. You can choose to live in dispair and hopelessness, or you can enjoy the finite time you have on this planet. My choice is to have fun.
Party on!!! Baleyville Rocks!!!! But dont come if you're gonna frown.

I thnk we saw much worse from 1939 to 1945. The world survived and emerged more prosperous and healthy.

1939-1945 could have been avoided, that's the whole point of dealing with the warning signs while they are still warning signs.
