I suppose the technical grade would be VG, but it will only sell for Good grade money IMO. Some collectors would bulk a paying that becuase of the rims have worn into the letters. The entire mintage of 165,000 was struck by one die pair, and the mint pushed that die pair up to and beyond the limit where they could produce decent coins.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Nets out to AG minus, 2.7 or so numerically, imo

I would have to agree with Steve27 and Baley. Go to Ebay and search for Bust Dime AG PCGS. Sure looks AG-3 to me.

The softness of the rims certainly looks AG, but I was looking at the central detail like Liberty's hair.

OK, if you twist my arm hard enough I'd come down to G6, but I'd expect a lot flatter overall look for an AG. Then again, if the flan is concave and the central portion thereby protected somewhat, I guess I could be mistaken. I've only owned one DB dime that I can recall so I'm far from an authority on the series and its striking characteristics. I will say that despite the soft rims and the odd little nick or two (the latter certainly being par for the course), I like the look of this coin OK for the type.

in my opinion the obverse portrait has f+ details and will say the reverse in general looks more g6.

Now the kicker is that its an 1807- a date that is plauged with terrible weakness around the rims.
Ive seen ms65's that have close to the same rims...

Anyway, I bought it because I think its probably the nicest G4 you can get as I graded it g10

OK, now that makes more sense. I was wondering if there was an issue like that.

Definitely a solid coin for G4 money, IMHO. Good on you, matey.

    G4

I'm hardly an expert, but I'll say G4. Rims would say AG, but too much central detail left, IMO.

It would be interesting to see what PCGS would grade it. It has a lot of hair detail but the reverse and all rims are very weak.

I would bet G6 also. If they put it at an AG...I would like a whole set of AG's like that!

agree that the central details are VG and that this year particularly comes weakly struck about the periphery, but still, with most of the the left stars and United gone, tough to go VG

I had an UNC. of this date years ago and the rims were very weak.I will go with AG 3.
