Run Forest Run, if it is from this company than my past experience with them saying this (Brilliant Uncirculated) Is they Keep the ones that DID grade and all these are ones that DID NOT meet there Minimum Grade. After what they did with having graded the 5 oz ATB and sending out ones with no grades than all of a sudden up pops all the 69 DM it taught me a big lesson. Why buy from someone who takes the best ones and than sells off these Brilliant Uncirculated ones to those that do not know better. Just my 2 cents..........................Enjoy
I used to be famous now I just collect coins.

If you wish to collect certified Morgan dollars, you should stick with those that have numerical, not qualitative grades. PCGS is the right company (NGC is fine as well), but buy pieces that are already given exact grades. If you like the coins, that's great, because that's what collecting should be about.

<< <i>IT say's PCGS Bu . What sales gimmick are you talking about. pcgs stagecoach series. >>
Yes, they say on their website that they grade in a range of MS 60-63. I'm sure most seasoned collectors here would interpret that as falling on the lower end of MS 60 overall, not the MS 63-64 that you remark on. I looked at one photo there, which was obviously MS 60, and what people hip to coin lingo would refer to as "a dog".
It's a bonafide coin, and bonafide uncirculated, but it won't be marketable to savvy collectors as anything other than MS 60. It's worthy of being collected, for what it is, but commercial hype in terms of old-timey sounding western stagecoaches, ambiguous grading and inflated prices are the reasons that the posters here are throwing up caution signs.
*Disclaimer -- PCGS is the only legitimate TPG out there IMO and nothing they have ever done could be considered a gimmick. Our beloved host is simply the best of the best... Please don't ban me for simply warning new CU members here not to repeat my mistake
<< <i>You can try to make a fool of me if you want ,but at $30 a coin I bought 10. I typed in the serial #'s there real. So I'm a fool >>
No one is calling you a fool, sir. It is a sales promo for the reasons that have been stated here. Its a real coin, its probably uncirculated, but the label doesn't mean anything. If anything, provenances are sometimes stated on labels. Calling a Morgan Dollar a stagecoach coin is like calling it a silver dollar. No one is calling you a fool. Believe me, you can't have a thin skin on this forum.

(I have seen Monaco on TV selling slabbed NGC morgans , but they
dont say the grade or price) Has anyone bought these?
they claim the morgans are from a recent uncovered hoard - anyone
know what they are taking about ? Did they just score mint bags
that have already been passed aroung and search for the MS67s?
The one I am thinking of predate the ones linked above. I'm thinking late 1980's of 1990's and most were just labeled BU not really graded.
I am trying to collect as many different dates as possible.
I don't think they are priced excessively. Consider:
(all prices below are for quantity of 20-100) dates 1878-1904
Raw MS60-63 46.50
PCGS MS62 52.50
Stagecoach 54.00
PCGS MS63 57.00
I believe that APMEX is still getting these from PCGS. Last spring, they only had about 6 different dates. Several times since, they have built
back up, declined, and built back up again. As of today, I believe they have 53 different listed. Quantities avalible seem to go up to 7 each.
Sounds simple. APMEX sends a batch occassionally to PCGS. For the common dates, probably send to grade if most likely come back 63. Coins
that aren't likely to be 63 are better, send in to get holdered with stage coach holders. Why not.
Maybe PCGS has used these same labels in the past for others. I thought I read somewhere that were originally made for coin vault about 2005.
Maybe APMEX bought the extras from coin vault and when they sold well decided to get more
Lot of maybes.
I collect just because I think they are attractive way to collect BU dollars. Not high grade, but easy to get a variety of dates in attractive MATCHING holders
without having to worry sliders or cleaned. I could collect graded, but something about matching holders instead of different grades works for me.
And I don't believe they have individual cert #s. (Mine are locked up elsewhere now.)
