Just searched $500 face of halves: results

Well I do this a couple times a month but usually don't find much (a 40% hear and there) but today I mined some silver resulting in 13-40% halves along with a VF 1940-S walker, an XF 1949-S Franklin and a fine 1954 Franklin. Also got a 2003-P, 1976 clad proof and a nice rainbow rimmed 1973-D.image

    You done good.

Is it difficult to order rolls from your bank? Mine never seems to have any available.
  • These were fresh bank rolls.
I go to this bank a couple times a month and they get them in either from customers or armored truck companies.
The first time I went to this bank about 8 years ago I asked if they had any half dollars and they gave me all they had which was only $120 face, out of that visit I got 6-90% halves and 82-40% silver halves. I have been going there ever since and have pulled four 1970-D halves, six 1970-S halves and one time got 16-90% Kennedies. Lately it's usually been one or two 40% halves so it was nice to finally mine some worthwhile silver again!!!image

Are you the guy who has went through thousands of half dollar rolls?

I seem to remember you hit the jackpot on more than one occasion, what happened to your "silver mine"?

    NICE!

I don't think I've ever found silver in my change. My son who is a non collector found a 1943 war nickel in his change today. I asked him how he even knew what to look for and to his credit he said, "it just looked different."

    Congrats.

My son and I have not searched a $500 brick in a few months as we kept coming up with nada. Maybe we will try again.
