  • Nah - I'm here to stay you don't have to worry about that. Just letting the men know they will get their response but I've got more important things to get to atm!

  • << <i>I really do not mind from time to time members requesting prices on a card or two on the boards, it shows the non members what kind of information we supply. But Sean has taken it to a whole other level and in violation of our terms that he agreed to when becoming a member of VCP.

So because of this Sean has been suspended from VCP for the next 120 days. And this is the first time I have ever suspended anybody so please I really never want to do this and sharing a little is fine. >>

I agreed with this post until I read the last line. The problem is when you add that last line about sharing a little then things get hazy. Who gets to share, how much is a little. I think you should talk to Sean personally and work this out. I don't think he deserves to be suspended until you explain your rules a little better. Seems like you have a good product that he doesn't mind paying for.
Hope this works out for both of you.

  • I apologize Bobby, thought I'd have a little bit of leway with how the forums go.
  • Thanks and you are now reinstated....like I said I don't mind see member request prices everyday and if existing members don't jump in and help I will myself.

Had I been here when this was first posted I would have given it a:

    Potential: Very High.

Agree 100% with Huncrelan, while it is up to Bobby to decide what 'a little' means, to Sean it appeared a little
meant unlimited use for 24 hrs.

<< <i>It's funny how I recorded the guy on the phone saying "long standing members who share are fine" but people who purchase a 24 hour subscription can't.

    Hypocrisy at it's finest. >>

    This doesn't sound very apologetic.

    Just sayin.

    C'mon Bobby, pick a lane.
From what I can tell, 707 is the DOLLAR STORE compared to deans_cards. For what that guy charges, if I ever bought anything from him I would expect it to be delivered to me in a frickin' limo.

Sean you worked hard on fixing your status, glad you guys worked it out.

The membership really isn't that expensive for a year. Actually I think it's cheap. I use it all the time.

Thanks for a great service Bobby.

Are thre plans to get up to more modern cards too? Just wondering.

I don't really have a problem with Sean making the offer. I don't have the issues with him that others here seem to, and I appreciate anyone who's trying to do a favor for people they've never met.

I do, however, have a problem with the people who are too freaking cheap to shell out $17 bucks a month for the service, yet who relish the opportunity to get free quotes. If the idea of spending < $20 a month for limitless access to real-sales data on vintage cards gives you a nosebleed then take up bottle-cap collecting, or something that's more aligned with your budget.

I believe the actual exchange is:

    BM: "Yes George?"

    GS: "You're hired."

    BM: "Not again."

I am a paying member of VCP. I like the service. It gives me a general idea of what I should pay on cards I am unsure about. I see no problem with helping one person with one card here and there. I don't want to look up 3+ cards in different grades for people. That is alot of work to 'help' somebody. Call me lazy I guess.....

As far as subscription sites go, I think VCP is money well spent. What would we do without it? Go back to guessing or using percentage of SMR - both bad ideas.

And not to be a wise*ss, but I actually thought Sean made his living buying and selling cards. It's good to know this young man has his priorities straight.

Sorry to disappoint, Steve. Some of have to work during the day and, as crazy as it may seem, I may be one of the few that actually works while at work and doesn't scour the Internet or read message boards all day long. Imagine the increase in productivity across the country if other employees had the same work ethic...

As for chastising Sean . . . there's no need to pile on. I'll wait a few hours until he presents the next opportunity.
