I was having this reverse holdered after purchasing it at FUN and they were running a Trueview special so I took advantage of it. This was a coin I always coveted. (cover coin of the 1994 Rothenberger Superior sale catalog). Yes, I know there is a finger print but I figured if it was ok for TDN to look the other way on his recent purchase who I'm I to argue?

But that fingerprint got me thinking - how does a fingerprint get on a coin unless the finger makes contact when the surface of the coin is "susceptible?"
Is the oil from the fingertip enough, or does that have to happen sometime during the process of "curation?"

Fingerprints contain oils and acids, as such they etch the surface as well as contaminate it. A print will cause surface issues at any stage or age. Cheers, RickO

The front and back covers of The Rothenberger Collection cat. are eye candy. I like your coins front cover position.

I see Ricko posted a reply to the OP. I expected him to mention that the coin is tarnished and would be better if the tarnish was removed. To my surprise he did not even mention it.
Is it possible Ricko has found a toned coin that he actually likes??????????
