I'm checking out!

Not that most will care, but wanted to give those that might a heads up that I am checking out for a while. The back and forth on these boards has become so commonplace that it frankly drowns out anything useful that an individual might take from CU. That doesn't even begin to take into account every other post being about something EBAY related. Lastly, it absolutley amazes me anymore that newbies walk into the forums and act like they run the entire boards, knowing everything about all subjects, and identifying Alts like they are a CSI investigator in their spare time. When I first made my way to the boards, I respected the veterans that came before me and tried my best to show them respect. Today, respect to the long standing board members flies right out the window anymore.
I will still be active in the hobby, and for those that I converse with regularly on these boards, I will continue to do so via other avenues.
Happy Collecting!

We don't need a great board member to leave.

That's actually a pretty stringent requirement when you consider the audience.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

A beautiful park is still a beautiful park, even if there are various piles of dog crap scattered about. Come back and say hi Matt - we'll miss you.

as you may recall I took a several month hiatus for reasons that pi$$ed me off. Stay sane--see ya back in a few
couple words of many posts that it is a train wreck about to start. Very tiresome indeed.
Totally understand, and no matter what, will see ya on the Flip side and as I've said, My Turn in Baltimore this year, expense account or not, still owe you a couple. And this time that POS Lee better be at his place without us begging for him to get his a$$ down to his own place to make Sales of his Own Booze !!!!!!!!!!!
YeeHah

I completely understand. Just remember, we will all be standing by, waiting for your return!

I agree with everything you've said and you will sorely be missed. I know a couple of other guys who have taken breaks from time to time. Here's hoping you come back around.
If not, keep in touch and I'll see you in Baltimore in August.
Take care and keep that unopened collection going strong!!!

Who are you kidding? You know you'll be checking in just for the chuckles... I know you will.
I actually hate to see you go. You have taught me several things about collecting in my short time around here. The first is if you see something you want do not haggle over $10-20.00 dollars or you might lose it. You also taught me the value of packs with stars on top in PSA slabs. I had no idea and learned that from you as well when I first started buying them.
I hope you stick around and tune out the knuckle heads.
Thanks for your help.
Best wishes friend
If we don't chat again, best of luck Matt.

<< <i>I actually like following the feuds, the alts, and the petty bickering. That's half the reason I stay here. I don't get nearly enough of that type of entertainment at work.

Agree, but I wasn't sure I should admit it.
I love the unopened pack threads, group rips, collectors showing off a card they just got, etc. but a little feuding and bickering make it more entertaining.
Take care for now, see ya back soon.

Been there, done that and keep coming back.I hope U do too.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people, particularly given the medium of what can sometimes can be likened to an electronic restroom wall. And when you elect to roll in the mud with a pig, never forget that the pig loves it. I watch some "folks" I like get occasionally lambasted on these boards, but in the final analysis, I take away from the posting only what I want. Largely, opinions (however insightful, moronic, useless or vitriolic) are what this forum is. So to permit a nameless, faceless, basement dweller (where I am right now BTW) the capacity to reorder your interests may mean that you must include him or her in your autobiography - the chapter entitled the "most memorable and influential people in my life." Yikes.

You've probably noticed that opinion pollsters go out of their way to include as many morons as possible in surveys ... I think it's dangerous to inform morons about what their fellow morons are thinking. It only reinforces their opinions. And the one thing worse than a moron with an opinion is lots of them." -- Scott Adams
Several years ago there was the guy that kept "quitting" the boards. That was always good humor.
I am now going to walk down the hall, of my office building, and take a piss. Be back later.
While I don't know the circumstances, sometimes it's best to take a few days off and come back refreshed. Afterall, cooler heads always prevail.

<< <i>MB, sorry to see you check out. There's always been a lot of bickering on the boards but I've learned to ignore it. It's like anger - if we are angry at someone, we are the one who suffers and the one we are angry at lives on peacefully ignorant of the anger. Better to see the good side of the boards, forgive the namecallers, and enjoy the hobby! >>
Well said Mark. +1
