Hey !!! Who stole my icon !!!! :)

I knew that our 1836 Gobrecht dollar out of the Benson sale was a pretty coin !! So pretty, that I decided to use a digital image of the obverse as my icon on the PCGS message boards. Imagine my surprise when I see the same icon popping up on other users posts !! Well guys, I am flattered ... and of course, I am really glad you like our Gobrecht dollar !!! But wouldn't you rather create your own cool icons from some coins in your personal collections? It's fun to create a pic of one of your favorite coins and upload it as an icon. Besides, I always thought I was unique ... now I'm just one of the gang !!

Happy posting,

  • Kenny, no problem!! There's a couple more guys using it too !!!

Brian, the funny thing is I almost bought your icon coin too ... I recognize that 1795 dollar PCGS AU58 out of the recent Kingswood internet auction ... but it got bid up too high for me !! The ding on the truncation of the neck is a good pedigree marker for that coin. It had pretty colors too !!

That's cool. By the way what kind of job do you have? You must have a lot of money to buy some of these coins.image

I'm not surprised it is a popular icon. It's an eye-catcher. Beautiful.

Anybody who likes Barber halves is welcome to use my icon. I'll share it. (The coin, on the other hand, is a different story. I just got it yesterday and am still carrying the slab around in my pocket- I usually do this the first 2-3 days if I really like something I got). No sharing on that. Sorry. image

PS- my Barber is also Benson pedigreed. (1898 PR63 CAM). I paid an obscene sum and some folks said I was nuts, but I am totally happy with it.

  • With over 5,000 members, there is not enough good photos for icons to go around. That is why I have stuck with the nuke icon since the beginning.

If anyone likes colorful proof Indian cents, I created the "ColorInjun" icon from a coin I used to own. The coin is no longer mine, but I liked it enough to save a picture of it as an icon. I also made a "Tull" icon for fellow Jethro Tull fans, if there are any. I think those are still in there...

The very thought of anyone stealing anyone else's icon just sickens and disgusts me. The guilty parties should be punished, punished, punished!!
