How deep can a metal detector pick up metal? 5 feet? 10Feet? 15 feet?

Spooly, there are many variables. First the type of MD, next, soil conditions, next, size of object, next, position/shape of object. There are MD units made for deep detecting (check White's site) that will perform much better than a standard MD.

I'll second what Ricko said, but for most metal detectors I've used looking for coins etc. it is more a matter of inches than feet- anything usually beyond 12 inches would have to be a cache or a large metal object to get picked up .
