Franklin Clip Set - 17 Coins Almost halfway done!

This is a set I've been working on for a couple years. Some of the early dates seem to be pretty tough. I have 17 different date/MM out of 35 for a complete set, plus a few duplicates. Enjoy!

    I like it, A LOT!!!!

I have been working on a date/mint mark set of clipped Jefferson Nickels. I'm only missing a handful of dates.
  • I'm sure you've spent a long time putting that set together. Neat!

So far we have members working on date/mm sets of:

    Lincoln Cents
    Jefferson Nickels
    Franklin Halves

...anyone else working on a similar set, different series/denomination? image

Nice progress so far, some of those early dates are going to be very hard to find.

Yes, I've certainly found that out! The most common seems to be the 1958 (Philly), at least for the standard type 1 reverse. I've only seen one example of a '58 clip with the type 2 proof-style reverse and unfortunately was overpriced so I passed on it. A few of the rim clips were cherrypicked in unattributed PCGS/NGC slabs.

Thanks to seanq for referring me to another clip collector a couple years ago that sold me a few dates I needed! Also, a thanks to Bushmaster for some of these pieces!

    A few comments...

1951-D was cherrypicked in unattributed PCGS Genuine holder

    1952-S from unattributed NGC64 holder

1953 was just graded AU50 by ANACS but IMO should be in a details holder due to the scratch behind Franklin's head. Looks more like a 58 so likely was silently net graded.
