Lunch at Wendy's

Ok so I got the value meal, the cheap one. Junior Hamburger, Small Chili, 5 Piece Chicken Nuggets and a Coke for $5.04. I hand over 6 shiny brand new 2010 Sac Dollars and the young cashier is looking over them somewhat hesitatingly. I say to her that they are the new Sac Dollars. I asked her have you ever seen them before and she said no. She asks where do you get them. I told her at the bank. She was so enamored with them she said she was going to buy them for herself. She called her
co-workers over to gloat over the new coins she had gotten.
It seem every time I hand these out for payment, the person on the receiving end wants to keep them. My guess is that nobody really wants to spend them including all the waitresses at the diner I eat at daily.
What is the general consensus of the reaction of the person on the receiving end of your transaction when you use your Sac or Presidential Dollars?
Maybe they are doomed to be forever placed in the sock drawer.

No brother, they are doomed to sit in the vault at the bank. I used to buy rolls of them and give them out as tips. One day, as I was buying a few rolls, I told the teller what I wanted then for. She told me that they come right back to her to be exchanged for paper. I don't use them anymore..too much of a waste of time.
...ah huh! the key word here is paper!
I'm slowly receiving fewer "examinations" and "questions."
It does take the fun out of using them when you don't have the puzzled looks and asking the coworkers and managers what they are, etc. I passed off 5 or 6 today and they were just tendered without any of the fun.
I was at a bank this last summer and the young teller there had to check the backs of the half dollars a couple of times to make sure he wasn't giving me some other denomination. That was a good one. Oh well, at least he had the smarts to make sure he was right. It was still amusing the teller wasn't sure.
I agree that nearly all of them make a one-way trip from the mint to someone's little treasure box or curiosity drawer, never to be seen in commerce again.

...i know i've slowed up the line at a drive-thru fast food restaurant handing them out to pay.
...i read a story in numismatic news that was saying the prez bucks MAY be considered for minting of live presidents just to continue the series.
I don't think anybody was giving out Sacs that night but I had my Lucky Mercury Dime in my pocket.)
I haven't received a Sac in change probably ever.
about $80.00 spent to date, for the year.
<< <i>the best one for me was paying for a meal with a $2 dollar bill. I handed it to the ladie and she called the manager over asking if I was trying to pass funney money on and should she notify the police. I felt like telling her how "stupid" she was but I bit my lip and keep my mouth shut..... this took place at McD's >>
...this is a part of the problem with the public. they don't know anything about these dollar coins! the government doesn't make it known that they exist. it's no wonder we get confused looks from stores and restaurants and home depots and even banks when we try to spend them, most people don't realize these are legal tender.
as has been said many times, the rag buck has to be stopped before anyone ever uses the small bucks. unfortunately, people have to be forced to use them through the elimination of the paper bills.
1) Order an uncut sheet of 32 $1 notes from the BEP store.
2) Go to grocery store. Pick out a six pack or a roll of T.P. or both.
3) Make a melodramatic production of taking the uncut sheet out of the shipping tube, and pull a pair of scissors out of your back pocket at the checkout.
4) Wait for the local Barnie Fyfe to arrive for your ride to the station in cuffs!

...i'm not having the same success as jersey people.
<< <i>Honestly, I'd bring em back to the bank too if I got 5 or more
I'd never waste the gasoline or time in doing that.
I'd just spend them. Sheesh!

...unless he was exchanging them for morgans.

yes, will print more if you need it to
<< <i>I had a cashier go and ask her manager the other day if she was allowed to take dollar coins. I had a different cashier a few days later get all excited about a stack of JFK halves. I told her they were halves, but she still gave me credit for $1 a coin. I said to her again that they were worth half that and upon seeing a blank stare I just said thanks and walked out with my bag of half-priced goods. Sheeshhhh, I'm an honest person, but I'm not going to tell explain the difference between fifty cents and a dollar more than twice
...brings me back to my earlier comment. no one knows these coins exist due to poor public education from uncle sam.
