Now that the 1 ounce 2011-W gold eagle is sold out...

Which would you prefer for your collection, given the current demand prices on Ebay, and considering what will happen to the prices over the next year or so? 1) A 2011-W MS70, or 2) A 2011-W FS MS69???? Both of these appear to demand the same amount of money.

I've noted on Ebay there appears to be around a $2500 premium for the First Strike MS70. Is it worth it????

Let me ask you - is an MS-70 FS coin any better in quality or details than an MS-70 coin without the FS?

    I knew it would happen.
  • No it is not worth it except to some fools playing the registry set game.
As for buying a FS 69 vs. a non FS 70 I would think a 70 has to trump a 69 irregardless of when it was struck.image

The premium for the FS listed on eBay is just wishful thinking on the part of the seller, testing the market.

No way is the label worth that kind of $$. None have sold that high in completed listings that I saw.

  • Thanks all, I've been trying to make sense out of this latest hype. It appears I'm trying to find logic in a place where it doesn't exist!

FS label not worth moon money. Keep in mind that the jury is still out on final mintage. It may or may not be the lowest AGE yet. If it is prices will be strong. Either way it's in the top two ( should be) making it a money coin for a while. If it does come in lowest and prices shoot through the roof undecided buyers may regret waiting.

I had purchased one early this year and returned it. Congrats though to those that bought it. I will not be chasing this coin.

Grade of a coin is always more important than the date it was submitted for grading.
