Poll: 1950-D 50c FS-501

This is one of the new CPG varieties. It's listed as an RPM (or possible over mintmark). CONECA/Wiles have it listed as a D/D south (RPM-001); Wexler, Bordner, and Potter have it listed as D/S south OMM. I thought it would be interesting to see what the board members think.
It's on page 286 in volume 2, 5th edition of the CPG if you want to look it up.

We, like Wiles, Coneca, Potter and everyone else need the coin in hand with the proper magnification tools to even begin the process.

<< <i>Looks like an RPM D/S to me... Cheers, RickO >>
Are you, by any chance, a politician Rick ?
<< <i>Considering there were OMM's on quarters and dimes in 1950, one on a half dollar doesn't seem like a stretch. >>
I've heard some say an OMM isn't possible since SF didn't strike any halves this year. However, Potter gives a plausible explanation that dies could have been prepared for SF and later reworked to be used at Philly or Denver when it was decided that SF wouldn't strike any this year. Here's a link to Potter's article.
<< <i>Strange that an EDS has never been found which is what is needed to clear this up... >>
That's one reason I think die damage/markings is a possibility. If this is the case then it's possible that an EDS was overlooked.
<< <i>By the limited photo, I think D/D (rpm), but not D/S (omm). I would need it in hand for a better guess. >>
The image in Potter's article looks a little clearer. I'll see if I have any better pics. My example is on its way to PCGS so I can't take any right now.
