Seller's Remorse?
Please tell me if I'm being a tool.
I was contacted by a seller who I neg'd last week. They are asking for feedback revision. I'm inclinded to leave my neg as is.
Seller listed a card as BIN for $15. I bought and paid. Next day I get a refund and cancel transaction request.
Seller listed card for what I feel is 30-50% of value if auctioned but I was lucky enough to search and find it first.
Rather than complete the transaction the seller says they can't find card to ship. Either way, lost or remorse, I feel they get a neg for not completing the deal. My feedback is simply, "Failed to complete transaction."
I'm I out of line here? Do I offer a higher fair price to see if they can "find" card?
I don't sell much so I'm not in a position to know how common listing a lost card is...
Thoughts?
Thanks.

Depends if you are in a good mood or not tbh.

I'm fairly certain he has not relisted. I think I would have caught that.

I asked if he had another.
Let's see what he says.
I like to save negs for sellers who have issues that would indicate chronically bad customer service of the type potential bidders should be warned about. Things like a description that is so far off as to be purposefully deceptive, complete lack of communication when I have an issue with an item, or glacially slow shipment combined with no communication.

So anyone wanna send sub cards in on a piggyback to the OP? He will cut ya a good deal.
<< <i>So we are letting the OP off that easily? No public apology, fcuks over multiple board members for months on end and it is like nothing happened?

Are we gonna have it out or do you want to continue to talk out of your ass without reading the apology already posted and the two members affected say we are good.

How hard is it to set aside the cards you list for auction or sale so that when they sell.....................there they are. Of course mistakes happen. When you make a mistake and someone else suffers (even $15.00) you receive a negative.
OP says he got a refund the next day and a cancel transaction request. Seems a little "heavy handed" to me. I would have reacted EXACTLY the same way. Perhaps if seller contacts saying "I can't seem to find card, if it's lost, can we work something out" I would give him a chance to make it right.
I am also tired of hearing about cards being accidentally listed too low. How many friggen times do you have to be asked and how many chances to review your auctions do you need?
Don't know about all the other drama, so no comment on that.

What Brick said.
So I decided to list it at auction. It was a mid grade exhibit card worht maybe $5 retail.
I started the auction at 99 cents and it got one bid. No big deal. I was happy to unload it.
The buyer paid and when I went to find it and ship it out the next day, I couldn't locate it.
I searched for that card for over an hour. I couldn't find it.
I then realized I had brought it to a card show the previous month. I didn't know it at the
time but I realized I must have been robbed at the card show as I had several other cards missing too.
I had this exhibit card in a stack of other odd ball over-sized issues, but that stack was missing
from my show inventory.
I apologized to the ebay buyer and explained what had happened. I told them they could go
ahead and drill me with a neg. as I probably deserved one for being too stupid to check my inventory.
The buyer was cool and totally understood and we both walked away from the ebay transaction.
No negs, no hard feelings.
Stuff like this does happen on occasion.
Joe
Of course stuff happens but if I get no contact, refund and a request to cancel....doesn't that seem less than necessary to assure a happy customer?
Admittedly, I don't sell much so I'm no expert on the frequency of such things but I have rec'd emails about things like late shipping or the like and I always cut the seller a break when they initiate contact. I guess I'm po'd more about the way I was informed and the conspirisy theorist in me wonders if there is seller's remorse....but maybe I've watched too many episodes of X-Files.
I do buy about 500 items a year on this eBay ID and I only leave about 1-1.5 negs a year so it' s not like I don't give people some rope once and a while.
Seems like the replies are about 1/2 on each side of the fence.

You wish you were only a tool.
I agree with Ralph (Brick) and Steve (winpitcher).
This is a classic thread started by one of the bigger douchebags on these boards, and that was my opinion of him before he screwed the guys on the group sub.
Maybe he really lost/misplaced the card.
Okay, continue arguing.

I think you should do whatever it is youre going to do. Leave a negative if you feel you should or simply dont and press on. Some people are going to agree and others are not so in reality, youre right back where you started.
...However, I do think because of your past situation, I dont think making this particular thread was the best idea.
<< <i>I find this thread to be highly ironic. >>

VILLAGER #1: We have found a witch, might we burn her?
CROWD: Burn her! Burn!
BEDEMIR: How do you know she is a witch?
VILLAGER #2: She looks like one.
BEDEMIR: Bring her forward.
WITCH: I'm not a witch. I'm not a witch.
BEDEMIR: But you are dressed as one.
WITCH: They dressed me up like this.
CROWD: No, we didn't... no.
WITCH: And this isn't my nose, it's a false one.
BEDEMIR: Well?
VILLAGER #1: Well, we did do the nose.
BEDEMIR: The nose?
VILLAGER #1: And the hat -- but she is a witch!
CROWD: Burn her! Witch! Witch! Burn her!
BEDEMIR: Did you dress her up like this?
CROWD: No, no... no ... yes. Yes, yes, a bit, a bit.
VILLAGER #1: She has got a wart.
BEDEMIR: What makes you think she is a witch?
VILLAGER #3: Well, she turned me into a newt.
BEDEMIR: A newt?
VILLAGER #3: I got better.
VILLAGER #2: Burn her anyway!
CROWD: Burn! Burn her!
BEDEMIR: Quiet, quiet. Quiet! There are ways of telling whether
she is a witch.
CROWD: Are there? What are they?
BEDEMIR: Tell me, what do you do with witches?
VILLAGER #2: Burn!
CROWD: Burn, burn them up!
BEDEMIR: And what do you burn apart from witches?
VILLAGER #1: More witches!
VILLAGER #2: Wood!
BEDEMIR: So, why do witches burn?
[pause]
VILLAGER #3: B--... 'cause they're made of wood...?
BEDEMIR: Good!
CROWD: Oh yeah, yeah...
BEDEMIR: So, how do we tell whether she is made of wood?
VILLAGER #1: Build a bridge out of her.
BEDEMIR: Aah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?
VILLAGER #2: Oh, yeah.
BEDEMIR: Does wood sink in water?
VILLAGER #1: No, no.
VILLAGER #2: It floats! It floats!
VILLAGER #1: Throw her into the pond!
CROWD: The pond!
BEDEMIR: What also floats in water?
VILLAGER #1: Bread!
VILLAGER #2: Apples!
VILLAGER #3: Very small rocks!
VILLAGER #1: Cider!
VILLAGER #2: Great gravy!
VILLAGER #1: Cherries!
VILLAGER #2: Mud!
VILLAGER #3: Churches -- churches!
VILLAGER #2: Lead -- lead!
ARTHUR: A duck.
CROWD: Oooh.
BEDEMIR: Exactly! So, logically...,
VILLAGER #1: If... she.. weighs the same as a duck, she's made of wood.
BEDEMIR: And therefore--?
VILLAGER #1: A witch!
CROWD: A witch!
BEDEMIR: We shall use my larger scales!
[yelling]
BEDEMIR: Right, remove the supports!
[whop]
[creak]
CROWD: A witch! A witch!
WITCH: It's a fair cop.
CROWD: Burn her! Burn! [yelling]
BEDEMIR: Who are you who are so wise in the ways of science?
ARTHUR: I am Arthur, King of the Britons.
BEDEMIR: My liege!
ARTHUR: Good Sir knight, will you come with me to Camelot,
and join us at the Round Table?
BEDEMIR: My liege! I would be honored.
ARTHUR: What is your name?
BEDEMIR: Bedemir, my leige.
ARTHUR: Then I dub you Sir Bedemir, Knight of the Round Table.

A neutral would be ok, since we dont know the seller and a neut would let others know in case he does this often. Feedback on ebay is a joke anyway, buying into it is part of its problem from the start. I own a business and although we are regarded as the best in quite a large area, I would bet our feedback isnt 100%, so its not a big deal

First, I would leave a neutral, simply because he cancelled without notifying you first.
Next, Ever since I screwed up the returns on a group sub I did, regardless of reason, I've made it a point to work diligently on MY board karma - providing help where I can, going that extra mile to get stuff for members of that sub where possible, in general just trying to be a positive contributor here. One thing I'll NEVER do is get on ANYONE for bringing it up again, whether they were in the sub or not, and whether or not they have their facts straight. I don't have that right.

<< <i>I do group subs. Group subs are alot of hard work. Maybe I make them look easy - they are not! I always try to follow the rule, treat others as you want yourself to be treated. Some people on here (which will remain nameless - you know who you are) have been a thorn in my side on here. I choose to not have any dealings with such people. The people who HAVE dealt with me, I value those relationships very much and would never do anything to jeopardize them. That is all I have to say - carry on. >>
Sorry I replied to that clayshooter thread yesterday. I had read bits and pieces of it here and there over several months. Yesterday I read through all the threads available. I then responded to it simply saying it was an unbelievable story. Not trying to keep something going. I was just in awe of the whole thing.
Group subs are a lot of hard work. I have done a small group sub and a large pack group sub. These box breaks aren't as bad, but still require work. The biggest thing is effective communication to all parties involved throughout the process.
Whether the story is true or not, I have no idea. I know the couple memebers involved said it's a dead issue, but I think it leaves a very unsettling feeling for others on here when there has been no proof of the incident. Then that member comes on here and is posting around like nothing happened. I think that's the biggest issue for everyone that wasn't involved. Hence the reason for comments and concerns.
When a major incident like what supposedly happened occurs, there should be proof shown so that everyone on the board feels comfortable IMO.
"Live everyday, don't throw it away"
Perhaps if he admitted that he listed too low and didn't want to sell at the price as you suspect, then it might be worth a neg then. I stress "might". I would consider leaving a neg if the seller had a history of that, but not over a $15 card with no poor history.
