PCGS did not set any records at this sale - Heritage set records selling PCGS graded coins.

While PCGS graded coins may have been the TPG highlight of the auctions, the TPG doesn't matter
all that much, and the coins will eventually speak for themselves in terms of value! That's my take

I think they got that 19.5% buyers premium wrong, last I looked it was still 15%.

I think we all know that there is absolutely no chance they would have realized the same prices if raw.

Couldn't help but notice that both of the coins photographed in that article show beans. It certainly didn't hurt the prices realized.
I wonder of those reported record prices, how many of them weren't beaned?

While the coins speak for themselves, I would have to agree with CCU that most of Duckor’s Saints would not have fared as well at auction if these were raw. A large percentage of Duckor’s Saints were sold directly to collectors or went to collectors through dealer-agents. Collectors tend to feel more comfortable with coins that are already certified.

As 78.8% of Dr. Duckor’s Saints were “beaned,” Roadrunner is making a misleading point. Most (not all) Saints that brought strong prices and a few Saints that brought weak prices were “beaned.” Moreover, several of Dr. Duckor’s Saints are now in other PCGS Registry sets or will be so entered. Coins must be PCGS certified to be entered into PCGS Registry Sets. For a few reasons, it is fair for PCGS to assert that PCGS certification played an important role in the high prices that many (though not all) of Dr. Duckor’s Saints realized.

Hopefully the coins did speak and I suppose the real question is how loud and what role TPG had and the beans.
