This arrived from CNG today, it's the ex Terner piece in a PCGS PR66 slab.

    Congrats on what seems to be a milestone purchase Jeff.image

    In all honesty, do you think that PR66 BN is a bit too much for that coin? ? After all, it wouldn't be the first ex Terner coin that's been overgraded, and in this case it's the stain on the obverse that's distracting. Still, I think that a better image might reveal a totally different and stunning coin.

    I don't know a lot about grading but i also noticed the black stain on the obverse and then something along the bridge of his nose,right above the stain? It is a gorgeous coin though,i like having versions of this guy,theres some nice detail.

    To be honest if I was grading it would probably go 64 or 65, the stain is a bit much for a 66, the light area above the nose is just lighting. The reverse however is nearly flawless.

    Very nice 1/2d, Jeff image I bet when you look at the coin in-hand, the spot is not as noticeable as on the blown-up image.
