Double yuck... but wait.. in a couple of years, the tarnish may look like a western sunset and the coin will sell for megabucks... all due to a severe lack of hygiene.... Cheers, RickO
When I first clicked the link to look at the coin up for auction I scratched my head and thought "I do not get the title of this thread".
Taking a second look at the photos of the coin in the 2x2 I then noticed and looked at the fingers holding the 2x2.
EEEWWWWWWWWW!!!
Someone get that guy a bar of soap and a scrub brush. His fingers look like he has been cleaning out an out house, septic tank, spitoon or chamber pot with his bare hands.
I then looked at the coin again, plus the wording on the 2x2 and the auction description. Very confusing. The coin does not look like any 1952 proof half I have ever seen. If it is a proof, it looks like a satin proof (similar to satin proofs that exist for the years 1950, 1951 and 1953). If it is a proof, it is not a Cameo proof and IMO from the picture is not even a brilliant proof. If it is a proof, there is no need to write FBL on the 2x2, since all proof Franklins are struck with full bell lines (duh!!).
If it is not a proof and instead is a circulation strike, it is a very clean circulation strike with minimal marks, etc. If it is a circulation strike MS example of a 1952P Franklin it is erroneously decribed as a proof on the 2x2 and a cameo in the auction description.
So, what do you think the pictured coin is; and what do you think of the pictured fingers
Interesting eBay handle - but, with that in mind, I thought cleanliness was next to godliness? Conversely, I am pretty sure all of our coins have not been handled with gloves to be sure!
I take care never to let myself or any part of myself get shown in photos. Not that I'm particularly lax in the grooming or hygiene dept, I just don't want my parts to be scrutinized.
Heading out now for a manicure.

Don't forget it's a PROOF GEM with FBL.
He needs to give the coin biz up and stick with worm farming.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

The holder has been re-stapled indicating that this particular coin was once removed from the 2X2. I wouldn't touch this coin with a 10' pole.
