I lost the snipe, but at least I made the winner pay for it!

I really thought my snipe bid would win this one. . . image

The winner didn't get off cheap.

There's some satisfaction in losing with a nuclear bid. You make the winner pay for it.

And the next time your competition may be a little more bid shy.

There is another seller selling the exact same coin currently at $82 and the sale ends today (Sunday). You have another chance.

    "Another seller"?

That's the same seller using the same pics (check the serial number on the reverse of the slab)......veddy interesting....

100% White ? That's interesting to read on a slab with a toned coin.

Not really, if you know the holders. These older PCI holders have been talked about that way for more than a few years on the forums.
Go in white, get labeled as such, and the inserts tone the coins.

Very common on these w/ SAEs especially. I have 2 myself that are very similar. Think I paid ~$50 max for one of them and a bit less for the other.

Yes, I understand toning takes place inside the holders Bochiman. It's still interesting to read one thing on the label, and see another thing inside the slab. We can rest assured it's almost 100% silver image .

I love the pastel colors. What I don't like is what appears to be some spotty toning at the top by the E on the obverse.

Interesting times on the last two bids... he had really set a nuclear bid, must have been expecting major, last minute sniping. Cheers, RickO
  • Got to admit that coin is nicely toned. But do you really think its worth that kind of money. I have seen them alot cheaper on the bay.

I would never hope to pay the max I place on a snipe. More times than not a winning bid will come in at about half.
There was just something about the smoothness of the pastel toning along with the silky luster that drew me to this one.

Thank goodness a forum member stepped up via a PM and offered me a near identical coin for a nice discount.

So, will you bid on the other copy of the same coin also? Maybe no one is paying as that was a shill bid. Be wary of a second chance offer.

    ^No.
Like I stated above. I've already purchased one extremely close to the OP and am happy.

seems kinda pricey for an ounce of silver.. unless the true value is in the plastic, or the tarnish.

That SE is amazingly ordinary for $213. I can't believe that minor toning brought that kind of money. Wow.

Heh. Next time bid $222.21 and teach 'em not to snipe $222.22!
