My Very First Coin Show And It Was FUN

What a fabulous experience and one i had only imagined... I walked the floor for 3 entire days and saw some amazing coins and met some fine people... I had gotten so wrapped up in things i missed lunch all 3 days...
I met Don Willis for the first time and what a class act... Answered all my questions to the point and was very helpful... So was the PCGS staff and the customer service manager Trista King who is a real pro and actually turned away my business at the show for a couple of coins i brought that she advised me to submit at a later date when i am ready to submit all my coins that would benefit my entire collection to take it in the right direction... I was impressed!
I also met some of my pals from here and missed a few as well... Shane where the heck were you? I can`t believe i missed that blazing toner shirt you had on...
Met MJ finally and what a gentleman... I had expected nothing less and was sitting at one of the tables working a deal and from my voice he recognized me... Funny was at Todd`s table and Todd had just finished imaging an amazing blazing Commem and had it on his puter screen and Todd said it was just done for a client... Later that day i ran into MJ again and he pulls THAT coin out of his pocket...
Also speaking of gentleman I met Big Moose...What an amazing collection he has and his eye for PQ coins goes to the next level... He has a discipline for the good stuff that is tough to beat... He introduced me to a few vendors that are at the top for the type of coins that I look for... Another real class act and I can`t thank him enough and had a fabulous dinner with him and a fun evening and some great stories!
Then Toneddollar... When he arrived, had me announced he was looking for me over the load speaker...
I had purchased some amazing Morgan`s from his personal collection this past summer and was fantastic to finally meet! Another true gentleman... He had brought an incredible box of toned and tougher date Morgans for me to look at, unfortunately I already had some deals in the works that I was committed to and my budget had been already been put to the limit...
Toningintheblood was there as well and had a nice dinner with him and a few others from on here...Would have loved to have spent more time visiting with him but he had an early flight for business the next day... A fine gentleman and loved to talk coins...
Bestclser was also there and was great to finally meet... Over the last several years many of his amazingly toned Morgans came my way... His eye for quality stuff is all there with an eye for color that is superb! We had an awesome visit and a couple of dinners together with some great people that i will always remember...
Now i had a picture of this guy totally different from what i actually met...
TomB! I pictured him on in years and kind of grumpy...
What a pleasant surprise that he is in fact another class act and way younger then i expected... And no he didn`t compensate me for saying that...
He`s actually easy to find on the floor at FUN just had to go to where the really cool PQ stuff is and that`s where he`ll be hangin... He really knows his stuff too!
I also met with members on here that either recognized my handle or was introduced to me that very seldom post if ever, that frequent the forum on a daily basis... Very interesting people with some very nice collections...
I found for the most part the vendors were very helpful... Non pushy and gave you space to look at stuff...There was something for everyone from medals, tokens, modern, bullion, gold nuggets, coin supplies, books, raw coins, lower end right thru top end certified coins...
Too many to name them all but some of the stand outs in my world were Andy and Alynne from Angel Dee`s, Bill and Christine from Numismatic Americana, Larry from Harlan J. Berk, Dick from Great Toning, Ron Sirna, Greg Allen, Larry Shapiro Rare Coins, Charmy from The Penny Lady, Rick from Eagle Eye Rare Coins, Todd from BluCC Photos and last but not least Brandon Kelley and Jhon from Jhon E Cash...
On a personal note i would like to thank Brandon and Jhon for helping me acquire what is now one of the highlight coins in my collection which i just acquired at FUN... In between him being so crazy busy selling his very PQ currency notes at FUN, Jhon with virtually no compensation did me a huge favor to acquire what is one of about 5 top toned Morgans that i know of anywhere...
Brandon took me around and introduced me to many collectors and vendors at the show as well as putting together on his tablet for me to carry around a gallery of most of my coins to show off to everyone for easy viewing...Which worked out very well for my intro to some of the vendors... We also had a couple of fun dinners together talking coins and stories and he took me to a Brazilian Steak house in Orlando that was right up my alley...
All total i ended up with 1 toned Peace Dollar, 8 toned Morgans (7 from the floor and 1 from the auction) and one heck of a great experience... As soon as Todd has a chance to send me the images i`ll post em...
Hope you guys and gals enjoy my book of the show and have to thank our host here PCGS for this great forum without which i would have never met my new friends...

Thanks for the report, and I'm glad to hear you had a good time.
It really doesn't get any better than FUN.
It was a pleasure meeting you and seeing your passion for coins. You, along with some of the above mentioned people, really know what a nice coin is. Christine and I also enjoyed the dinner we shared. I just hope our antics didn't scare you"
I know that this was your first show but I hope it isn't your last!

It was a pleasure having dinner with you. Its a wonderful experience talking with someone as passionate for collecting as you are. I feel honored to made your acquaintance.
Best regards and good luck collecting,
Dick
I can't imagine going to FUN as my first show - wow - but it sounds like you really made the best of it and had a great time.
It is enjoyable to see show reports like yours. Be sure to come back next year!
Wait a minute - I was.
Wayne bought some amazing coins, real headlights if you know what I mean. I had to leave on friday, so I had to leave a bid on the coin I wanted. On Saturday as I was home at my high school hockey game my phone rings just as the second period is ending. I look at the name and it is AB. I missed him when I was leaving so I figured he was calling to say good bye. When I had a second I called him back and he was very excited to tell me that I had won the only coin I wanted from the auction, I think he was as happy for me as I was with the news. THATS the kind of person he is.
It was my pleasure to meet you Wayne and to break bread with you at that japanese steak house. Happy hunting.

OK, now... let's see some pix of your purchases!!!

So, AB shows me a Morgan that is just sick. I say, "Wayne, I need to take you over to meet TomT( BigMoose) as he always seems to have a monster Morgan in his pocket. AB turns to me and says, "where do you think I got this from!"............The monster universe collides.
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Glad that you made it to FUN, and as your first show! It's been several years that I've been to that, and I've always had a great time. Congrats. True that the first cut is the deepest.

<< <i>The bad part about this show being your first show is it all goes downhill from here. This was the biggest coin show in the country and with the exception of the ANA summer convention the most eventful. >>
Every party has a popper and that's why we invited you, party popper..........MJ

So are you saying next month's Long Beach show will be even better than FUN?

Glad you enjoyed...my first FUN in 2005 was similar.....I was overwhelmed and a kid in the candy store
Nothing beats a good FUN for fun!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
NJCC not scared at all... If Big Moose can endure the punishment i am always game to risk becoming closer friends with you and Christine especially since you guys have such amazing coins...
Tonneddollars thanks for that and i was excited for a good friend of mine to have something good happen to them...
I will wait for Todd to have a chance to do his usual back ground with the holder and grade in the pic behind the coins before i post my newps from FUN... Until then here is an out of the camera superb pic of his as a sneak peak of one of the very special Morgans i ended up with from FUN 2012...

You sound pumped, brother. Thats what happens when you go to a good show like FUN and meet up with some of these fine fellers.
<< <i>To say it was a pleasure to meet you at FUN is an understatement. You know I've been wanting to meet you face to face for half a decade. Your enthusiasm added electricity to the show and I was always eager to see what you would come back to the table with. Everytime I ran into you, you seemed to show me another cool coin. I can attest to Wayne never stopping once he got to the show. Heck, my tablet was gone most of the time so I was glad Jhon brought his for me to use.
Thank you for that Brandon... The pleasure was all mine...
Have to say one thing though i would say i did pretty good in obtaining some of the top toned Morgans that were for sale at FUN but i saw some amazing private collection Morgans that are simply stunning, blazing gems that are not for sale owned by a very fine gentleman that has an amazing eye for the best...
Besides that you are way to modest because you came up with some very nice coins as well my friend...
