It is really great to see so many people particpating on the forums [and in the hobby] who are young guns [IMO in the hobby anyone under under 35 years of age is young].
I guess this thread is some "evidence" that the hobby is not in decline [via the death of older collectors and no knew collectors coming into the hobby to replace them].
Funny thing is that when I was a YN in the 1960's and 1970's, the concern that the hobby would decline and eventually die when the then "old collectors" [those who started collecting as kids in the depression and WWII] died was ever present.
What it all means is that eventually all of the really, really super rare, highest quality, finest of the finest, million dollar +, irreplaceable numismatic treasures [and other great coins] that are now in "strong hands" will eventually make their way into the hands of collectors who are teenagers and 20 somethings today.
For all of the young collectors out there, just think of the all of the fun you can look forward to if you stay in the hobby.

I think the pool of YN's is growing ever smaller. The majority of younger people I see at shows now are the local scouts and I doubt if any will ever develop a love for numismatics. The number of real collectors at the shows grows smaller every time I go. But maybe I'm hallucinating
I've been attending shows quite frequently for a bit less than two years now, and typically I'm the only person there under 40 who wasn't brought by their parents. Granted I won't be under 40 for much longer, but it's refreshing to see a number of folks younger than myself on the board.

In all seriousness I consider anybody under the age of 50 involved in this hobby/ industry to be the younger half.
