Listened to one of the ESPN Football podcasts last week and they had Flair on to talk about this. He said he watched the game but had turned it off when it ended. Then his phone started blowing up with everyone texting him about this.

Apparently he only turned in a few of the cards he was supposed to sign.

I agree with this assessment!

My concern with the issue has always been since it was essentially printed in someone's basement then it would be relatively easy to make more, including the guy who made them back in the day. It would be like Topps firing up the printing press on cards from the 70s and 80s. Impact would be devastating. It's reassuring to know that PSA can detect reprint/counterfeit wrestling all-stars.

I am not really certain how Norman Keitzer had the cards made. I would imagine he had some outfit print them out, cut them up and package them. As far as the plates are concerned according to the person who bought the rights to the photos and the remaining unsold inventory they no longer exist.
The person who asked me if a Flair he had recently bought might be fake said it looked off but then decided it was probably okay and I believe sent it to PSA. I showed him the listing of the reprint and naturally he wasn't excited to see it.
I am going to email the seller and see if he knows where this reprint originated from. This is definitely a situation to keep any eye on. So far it has just been the Ric Flair card but no reason not to make a Hulk Hogan while they are at it.
The fact they are making reprints of wrestling cards to me is an indication that the market for them has picked up quite a bit. I have recently seen that there is a set of 1954 Parkhurst wrestling cards that are reprints. These will be extremely easy to spot but again collectors are not able to get the originals so someone thinks it is a good idea to create a reprint set.

Rob I agree.
I already heard back from the seller. He said it is very apparent when out of the holder that it is a reprint. I have seen the Parkhurst reprint sets and they say reprint on the back and appear to be on a glossy card stock.
The card was submitted to PSA as a reprint but that is good to know that they are not hard to spot.
I spent some time looking for this quote a few weeks ago on the Beckett boards and could never find it. I was just researching something from older threads and found it.
"Hi everyone! Just wanted to share that I bought and received today in the mail an amazing '82 Wrestling All Stars Ric Flair PSA 10. Once I received today and saw that it was the most pristine and cleanest '82 Wrestling All Stars cards I have ever run across I filled out a Beckett grading form and went to post office and mailed out today to Beckett to be regraded and slabbed into the beautiful BGS holder. Hoping the card has a chance at that elusive BGS 10 grade! These cards are some of the hardest cards period to find in even NM/MT condition let alone pristine but if any of these cards had a chance for a BGS 10 PRISTINE grade this is surely the one."
This is going to be a tough call because there are actually only five and so this is the only copy not locked up in an 82 A registry set.
I have two, Ray from Hawaii and Greg from Miami have the other two and Han had the other copy.
The first to be awarded a PSA 10 was crossed over to a BGS 9.5 in 2009 or 10. The second copy to surface I went hard after and I got shilled by LSU Tigers (Bill) and I have to give him credit on his price guess. He launched a snipe near the end and I won for $1,225 .My max was $1,250 and he cost me $500 but such is life. I was super excited to come out of Ric Flair's return match in TNA to see I had won. Thankfully I also won the first Superstar Graham 10 for $117, a Snuka for $39 and the only Dusty Rhodes 10 to this day for $122.
Once the card came back to earth I purchased my second copy for $575 and thought it would be cool to own 2 since I had paid so much more for the first.
I said to Rob this morning I could see this either going kind of inline with where the recent sales are or blowing the roof off as superstar low pop cards have been going for big numbers.
The total pop of 10's from the set is at 63 and has barely moved in the past few years and I own 29 of them so there aren't many chances to get a 10 from this set if you want one.

You know, back in the early 90s, I actually met Ric Flair at a Golds Gym here in North Carolina. He was there signing for people. I got to shake his hand. I remember he had a strong grip. He about crushed my hand. He was bigger in person than I expected.
Cool story.
Flair might have looked soft because of all of the beer but he was definitely very strong and had tremendous endurance.
When I did my private signing with him I was really impressed with how big his arms still are. He has guns.
Off topic DPeck but speaking of signing. You had sent me a 1985 Topps Rowdy Roddy Piper card in the mail so I can get it signed by Mr Toombs. He was a regular at my Gym and became a friend through the years. Very positive guy and supportive in the gym. Unfortunately I kept forgetting to take the card with me in my gym bag and several years later the legend passed.
I still stay in touch with his son Colt.
These wrestling legends are the best and probably have the greatest stories of all professional athletes.
It's a different world they live in. It's still a very old school grind.
I have really enjoyed watching old Georgia Championship Wrestling on YouTube of late with Piper and Gordon Solie. I kind of always thought that Piper had too big of an opinion of his status in the ranks of professional wrestling but after busting the 1985 Topps rack box I watched a lot of the lead up to WrestleMania and he really was awesome. I can't imagine the lifestyle back then when drugs and rock n' roll ruled the day. Piper was a big time party guy and spent lots of time with Flair so the stories must be incredible.
A few years back when I bought the sealed pack of the Rax Roast Beef cards from wrestling historian Scott Teal we spent some time on the phone and he said it was just nuts. You could be just affiliated with the local show and have to beat the chicks off with a stick and he said everyone wanted to do favors for the wrestlers. I think it is easy to forget that there was just no where close to as much entertainment options back then and the wrestlers were larger than life.
I have spent countless hours watching shoot interviews and the stories shared are just incredible. Ken Patera is one of the best interviews to listen to because he is well spoken and holds nothing back.
Up to this point Ric Flair has been indestructible so we can only hope his clock keep ticking. It has been a tough run for the wrestling world with so many legends passing. I think it is smart that the WWE is forcing the guys to take better care of themselves but it will never be perfect. There is still plenty of fun being had and there is no doubt the Wellness Policy isn't enforced completely. There is still a ton of performance enhancing drugs being used but thankfully the work schedule is easier and the performers have better treatment options and some guaranteed pay. As everyone knows in the old days if you didn't work you didn't eat and so many put their bodies through incredible punishment not to lose their pay and their spot.
I have an affinity for old wrestling like nothing else. I watch it frequently on my big screen and seek out information about the past all of time. I just find it so fascinating and I don't think that will ever die in me and collecting the cards the past nearly ten years has only fueled it and kept my searching for more and more information.
The spectacle that is sports entertainment today is amazing but nothing compares to Pro Wrestling.
Charlotte is a heck of a wrestler. It is pretty incredible how good some of these women are. I prefer watching men wrestle but they clearly are carrying their own weight. I got lucky she got into a car accident when I did my private signing at 49 minutes in and that got me a lot more time with Flair because they had to push back their dinner plans. His phone rang and he said oh this is Ashley I have to take this. She was crying and he was like honey I will send you a car whatever you need. She had just had nasty break up too with her boyfriend that was publicized on the internet and her call up plans to the main roster kept getting delayed. Boy have things changed for her!
Very solid price for the Flair PSA 10. I really had no clue how this would do and it set a knew record by a a few percent. It was nice to see two wrestling cards go for over $2,500 with the Andre paper card breaking that barrier too.

Love it!
This guy had contacted me prior to purchasing this card a year or so ago. It looks like he was able to flip it for a reasonable gain.
Maybe one of the Colts players bought it. Haha
Obviously I will be keeping my eye out for any further activity on the card. This is the only copy that is not in an 1982 A registry set.
Just about everybody knows of guys like Flair and Hogan, but any clue on what the highest amount paid for a wrestling card is?

The program is from 1981 and the contents on the inside introduce Ric Flair as the new World Heavyweight Champion dethroning Harley Race in St. Louis.
You have got to love one of the wrestlers names inside. Porkchop Cash. Haha
Just recently I had someone ask me if reprints of this card were floating around. It appears they are and PSA picked up on it.

This is what you call a seller fail.
Check out the $3.20 offer. What a loser.
<< <i>Prob a typo no? Is the card short and caused it to just be graded authentic? >>
It was the only offer they made.
It could have been deemed MIN SIZE.
Thankfully the watchcount.com trick was discovered by someone on the board.
The card was sold to the seller by my friend Alan in New York. He got it when Flair did a big convention there.
It is pretty funny the seller turned away offers of $350, $360, and $375 and then accepted $199.
and that "reprint" ya'll were discussing in the months prior was NOT a reprint. it was simply and scan on photo paper and was immediately returned.
so nothing to worry about in regards to actual reprints being distributed.

That is great news that the reprint was just a photocopy.
If you want to listen just Google Woonation and it will bring you to the site Play.it.
I was watching Youtube clips last night and might have found my favorite Flair line ever.
Huh Garvin?
Would you ride down the road with that golden retriever you call a woman and talk to her?
