Starting to think 25th ASE PERFECT 70s is.....

Btw there is a a few white random spots in the picture but it's not on the coin. They consist of light reflection + lint + white ceiling fan moving because it's hot in California in the winter + Packaging sticky thingie was left on the slab I apparently didn't clean off lol. Most easily noticeable dot is near the T edge on both coins but it's not there in person w/40x magnifying glass. I had a really hard time on the reverse proof because everything kept reflecting off it. The shield there's a scratch look but it's not there in person either. Yes I know, my next mission is to have the perfect picture haha j/k. I'll post a video on youtube of me and the 40x magnifying glass just for kicks and fun when I have the time but under a 40x glass those aren't on the coin.

With a 40X magnifier, you'd be the one to know!!!
    I'll come up with something.

Lay it on your scanner. They are ruthless and will show every defect.

Tried scanning but it looks realllly fuzzy. Is there a special trick?

Scanners don't work if it's already in plastic unless you have the newest technology that does 3d scans.

Nope = even in the fuzzy scan though there's no shiny spots reflecting (unless it's the reverse proof where it shines back or the DCAM, but even then you'll see it's a smooth reflection with no interruptions). I'm using the tripod to take the S and Reverse proof first, will post those in a little bit. I may just sell one of the few perfect PR70 Reverse Proofs I have though to buy the new Sony NEX camera. That camera is NIIIIIICEEE

Thanks! To be honest of all the 25th ASE the hardest one to get a flawless 70 was the 2011-S Coin (no scratches on edge, no shiny dots in random places, no scratches, no edge rim spots, etc.). The other one was the 2011 No mint one, that one was a chore but less expensive to work on for the perfect 70.

Ok posted, it's the first topic. Let me know what you think! And if you have pointers how to shoot and where to shoot the pictures that would be great =D

I love the fact that there's no hair in these 2, it would still have been considered flawless to me but it's a relief that there isn't any hairs. Plus the sun is 100% smooth and visible.

  • Ideally, shoot straight over them that tripod (or with a copy stand if you have one) with a camera setup that you can tether to your computer. I personally use a DSLR with a few closeup filters on a lens. I'd like to get a true macro lens but they're pricey. Put some lighting at the 10 and 2 positions and fiddle around until you get something that looks good. It sounds somewhat simple but getting good results takes some work. Good luck!

what are those 2 marks I see on the obverse of the first coin..

    1. something across from the L in Liberty on the 4th sun ray.

    2. something where the 5th sun ray meets the Flag.

    1. I was cleaning the coin before i took the picture, it's a streak on the case I didn't wipe off well = In person it's not there.

    2. I didn't notice that before, but I was looking at my other abundant supply of S coins and they all have that weird look where the metal seems to be have melted improperly and "leaked" downwards. I wonder if that's just a mint thing, if not...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
