Who do you usually deal with to purchase bullion? I have been using Provident but the are not selling Platinum ounces right now: "Temporarily Out Of Stock". Please give me your recommendations. Thanks.

  • Provident
    GoldenEagleCoin
    ModernCoinMart
    Goldmart
    Apmex
    Kitco

There are others I'll check on occasion, but I buy the most from the folks above. GoldenEagle and MCM in particular, have never let me down image

I usually buy at Provident too and am now in your situation, trying to buy some Pt with no luck.
No luck either on the BST forum.
Your best bet is Apmex but they are expensive, imo.
Can't find anything good on eBay too.

I prefer not to deal with Apmex because of their conduct with the 5oz ATB's. But, before I look at the others suggested, thanks ModernCoin, Apmex does show Pt bars available but with too much premium: $115+ over spot

Thanks for GoldEagleCoin, they seem to have fair prices (the 5g Pt bar could be a good buy).
I will give a try! image

I don't like them either. Too prices and high shipping charges.
It seems that after you buy a certain amount they will charge a flat rate shipping.
    I can't buy much though...image

edited to add: in all fairness, though, Apmex has a huge inventory.

I use to buy from Tulving but you have to buy a certain amount and I can`t afford that much at 1 time.

I don't like the high minimum ounce order requirements either. I'd like to buy as I can in the amount that I can and build a stash at these lower prices. Finding a fair dealer could earn my business over the long term.

Strongly agree that Provident ans Modern Corn Mart are great folks.
I also will not deal with APMEX after they screwed people with the ATBs.

I used to buy from Tulving years ago via phone call and never had an issue with minimums. I recall buying 1 oz of gold and 10 of silver with no questions. Guess things have changed. Remember the 'send any 1oz eagle and get a PCGS 06 Ms69 FS AGE exchange for free,,, that was cool. Ah crap, that just reminded me of Heritage doing the $299 saints in PCGS 62. Should of bought more than oneimage

Yup, this is when I use to buy from Tulving too. It was also when Silver was a lot less in price too.

Provident and GainesvilleCoins are good based on my experience. Both are out of platinum, however.

    Local vest pocket dealer.

Anytime I want bullion he always has some or will have it within days. He'd much prefer to sell to me at a hair more than the refiner or next bigger dealer will pay.
I've never bought bullion from any of the big boys....just the smaller local wholesalers.

  • APMEX . But now they appear to be charging tax. I live in NY so if true I will not use them anymore. Tulving I have used but they are a PITA with the minimum orders and using bank wires. Looking for someone new actually. image

None of the above. There's a local dealer than been around 35 years that has more of anything I could ever want. He's "my guy".

After looking at the sites referenced I have to say Provident, Gold Mart, Only Gold and Golden Eagle Coins look the best as to price, minimums, shipping and payment options. Local dealers would be preferable if there were any to choose from. Mostly the only ones are the ones buying ads in the newspaper wanting to buy your 14 kt for $20 a gram which is about $10 a gram under value. I don't begrudge making a profit but a 33% under value offer is not gonna happen. I won't even look at their selling price.
I'm almost ready to make an order with Gold Mart if the spot price dips a little more.

I used to buy from Tulving all the time but as Dan mentioned, they upped their minimums high enough that they've bumped themselves out of my world. Still, their pricing is usually very competitive if you can meet their minimums.

The last batch of bullion I bought was from Rick at Scotsmans and he gave me a good market price.

I'd buy from Provident as well, as long as they had what I wanted at the time.

I've bought from Apmex, and they are a bit high as a rule but I would deal with them if necessary.

I bought from NW Territorial Mint and they held my money on a substantial order for about 50 days before delivering. I won't go back.

The US Mint is overpriced on collector bullion, but that hasn't kept me from doing pretty well with selected Modern Bullion keys over the years.

Manfra, Tordella & Brooks is worthy if you are in a pinch and don't know where else to try.

ditto. CNI are tops in my book.

I did switch to ebay BIN ebay during those golden times of BING, mr rebates, ebay bucks, blue cash... and now...

back to CNI, waiting for a small AGE order now.

(only 2 local dealers: 1= psycho, no joke 2= curmudgeon of curmudgeons, get nauseated walking in there; not since 2008, never again)

love the BST for small silver lots.

I forgot to add that Silvertowne has been good to deal with as well.

CNI seems to have competitive spreads and I would feel comfortable with them from what I've heard now and previously.

Googling "Golddealer.com" I got results for reviews of gold dealers. Like any reviews I see online I am skeptical and read them with a healthy dose of salt. But at least some other dealers were reveled. Goldmart was conspicuous by it's absence. Here's a link to that page: Gold Dealer Reviews
CNI could be interesting though a little complicated with their ordering and payment procedures.

All dealers listed in the thread are good to buy from.AS others stated my concern with tulving is the minimum amount which is not doable for me.Apmex used to be #1 but when they started charging sales tax in ny along with the shipping fees,I would be paying about 20% more than other dealers for me its a deal breaker.
