On this date 100 years ago...

A dedicated group of a dozen coin collectors met in the deep cold of the evening at the home of Dr. French in Rochester, N.Y. to found the longest continuously active coin club in the United States.
The Rochester Numismatic Association has been the home club of many notable numismatists, including Dr. French, George "Pappy" Bauer, John Jay Pittman, Charles Ricard and even guest members such as B.Max Mehl.
The R.N.A. takes great pride in its mission of fostering education and comraderie in numismatics. Many a toast will be proposed tonight at the club's Centennial banquet, and I wish all of the members here could join me to hoist a few! Here's to the greatest hobby in the world and to one of the greatest numismatic organizations !
