Such a tease

We had rain almost all last night and the ground is 90% bare. Unfortunately, that bare ground is still mostly frozen. Tried poking around with a shovel and seems like I'd be able to get to shallow targets with a little effort, but at this point it'd be more effort than it's worth. Just a couple more days of rain and it'd be detectable.

This is the first "January thaw" in years in this area.

Looks to be the end of the January thaw... snow just came in about an hour ago. Not much, but enough to cover the ground. Was nice to wish.

Monday morning was sunny and 50 so I took advantage and got out for a couple hours til the rain came. The rain was soon followed by cold and snow. We didn't get much but the temp is about 10 degrees so my season looks to be over for a while.
