Just Arrived In Mail Newp PCGS Morgans

AuroraBorealisAuroraBorealis Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭✭✭
I had a very nice package arrive today...Both are blazing! And spectacular multi colored Morgans...
The EOR is already named as soon as head Morgan dollar namer saw it she named it "Masquerade Ball" but we are needing a name for the 78 7TF...Hope you guys and gals can help out naming her... Keep in mind it is the finest toned 78 7TF i have ever seen and very well could be the finest one anywhere...It also is very very bright and pops at any angle... We were going to name it The King but thought that could change as time goes on so would love some ideas that would really fit that coin... Thanks ahead...

  • Both coins are gorgeous, and I especially like the color on the 1878 (and a semi-better date at that)!

I don't get the whole "naming" thing, but the name I would give them, if I could, would be "Mine! Not yours, but MINE!"

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Thanks guys! Bochiman because i have many of the same dates in my toned Morgan collection we find it just an easy fun way to keep track of each one rather then say "remember that MS68 star 1881-S that has crimson and lime green with pink and yellow dots all over it" we would know it easier as "Killer Tomato" ...Plus it gave us all in this house something to do together...Just that we are starting to find it difficult thinking of more cool names and have found the members on here have given us some very cool names that describe the unique characters of each one...Thus why we are asking for help... image If that makes any sense... image Funny though i thought they were really mine till you posted... image Have a good one though and never know that just might be a name we consider... image

Great color! The '78 also sports a very nice die clash - one of the more robust that I've seen on any Morgan.

How about 'Transition'.....as you know, tarnish is not my area of interest... but that seems a fitting name for that coin. Cheers, RickO
  • You don't see coins like them everyday!!!!!!!!!!!image

Toning pattern on the 78 reminds me of daybreak/sunrise when viewed from a satellite perspective. Same direction too.

    "Rainbow Submersion"

It looks as if she has stepped through a rainbow and is submersed in it.

    Wow, just simply killer coins!

More thanks guys...I enjoy posting them!
Silverman they do have some chatter but about right for the grade as in hand none of that is so apparent...They look very clean in fact...I find it amazing how the camera seems to pick up and exaggerate compared to viewing in hand...
Ricko i am very much liking "Transition" fits it to a tee! Later i`ll run that by head Morgan dollar namer as she has final say... image
Bosco you are right you don`t see coins like those everyday... I was pleasantly surprised at the extreme lustrous pop when i opened the package...Both coins are from Baltimore and i had a feeling they would be spectacular in eye appeal because i have another one from the same collection (Rainbow Collection)... He has a great eye...
Erickso perhaps we can use that...Thanks
Guitarwes another great idea you have and one we`ll consider...

Out the door and hope to see more ideas for a name... image

Nice observation Mesquite! I`m not up on die clashes but it must be common with the 78 7TF because about a week ago someone else had one posted with the exact same thing...Can`t remember which thread it was in...

A few thoughts for the 1878:
    "Somewhere Through the Rainbow"
    "Darkside of the Rainbow"
    "Leaving Paradise"
    "Fallen Angel"

I mentioned the clashes in a post of yours last week.

This one displays some nice "cotton boll leaf" clashes directly under the Eagle's left wing close to the body in the field area and some hair clashes above the Eagle's left wing and under "Trust".

I still can't get over how nice the color is though!

We have decided that we are going with Ricko`s idea and just adding to it a bit for the 78 7TF...
"Brilliant Transition" we almost went with radiant transition but we already have a radiant crescent...
We think that with the extreme pop and the changing over from Trade Dollars to Morgan Dollars in 78 that name fits the coin perfectly... We would like to thank Ricko for his great idea and to all the other great ideas from other members... ModCrewman you have some very good ones too... Thanks
    Here`s another view of it...
