fine, you can have it

I'm the guy whose top bid is $232.05. I could be wrong, but I think the other guy is trying to send a message:

Got a weird feeling that another twenty dollars or so will win that card in the last few seconds for ya.

** Working on the following sets-2013 Spectra Football Hall of Fame 50th Anniversary Autograph set, 2015 Spectra Football Illustrious Legends Autograph set, 2014-15 Hall of Fame Heroes autograph set. **
  • You could be right, but I don't want to go that high to find out.

  • looks like someone went in at 266...and still didn't beat that guy
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

Looking for Al Hrabosky and any OPC Dave Campbells (the ESPN guy)
  • Well, someone tried it and bested all but three of his bids, LOL. Not a strategy you usually see, but it got the job done.

Whomever it is, looks like they got a hell of a nice card.

What does a PSA 8 normally run?

It looks pretty high end to me.

Half or so of what this one went for, I think.

    I very much agree.

Serious question. How does one bid 2 seconds apart? Is there some auto bid that tries to find the top bid without you entering a new bid manually?

This EBAY buyer bid 19 times in 42 seconds.

  • Did you notice that his bids near the end were only a couple of seconds apart? How would that happen a snipe proram? I don't think he could place that many bids so close together manually.

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

You can bid that close together, that new feature where it's 1 click bidding can do that.

This guy opened himself up to paying more.

    One click bid
    One click bid
    One click bid
One click bid...He would have lost that card if he did not do that. SWEET CARD!
There is a worse looking one for sale now for 299.00!

  • To say the guy overpaid is simply not true. Its only worth what someones willing to pay. VCP is not the price.
  • Someone paid for the card and NOT the holder. I salute the winning bidder.

  • << <i>VCP says he overpaid big-time for this card using this "strategy." At least 16 of these 8s were sold in 2011 at an avg of $174.17.

I mean if it was a rare card then sure ... but it comes up at least once a month on average. >>

Not all 8s are created equal.

Question: When you're the high bidder and you increase your maximum bid multiple times like that, can you increase it by any amount (1 penny?), or do you have to increase it by the bid increment? If it's the latter, then that bidder wasn't very smart, because someone else could figure out that his maximum bid was at least $300 (or whatever), and then bid $299.99.
