Anyone here taking a look at this coin? It's lot 6104. I am interested in what some of you more experienced gold collectors think of the images and the toning on the coin. As an aside, I am not bidding on this coin, just comparing it to one I already own.

I would have to see this one live to really make a definitive comment about it, but my initial reaction is EF-45, not AU-50. The color might not be original, but for a coin like this it's okay.

Thanks for your response Bill. Is it the flat center on the reverse that makes you feel it is EF 45? The strike on these coins is notoriously flat from what I have been able to read and from the few I have seen. As for color and originality, I find HA's images very forgiving.

No, I known that the center weakness was due to strike. I'm looking at what appears to be luster in the photo (It's why I couched my response with the "in person" part.) and thought that the coin did not have enough mint bloom to be an AU.
