1904 toned IHC - Will this grade?

I picked up this 1904 IHC from a local B&M just on a wimp as it really caught my eye. Do you think it will grade at our host ? I am not sure if it is worth grading though. Let me know what you all think.

Thanks Rick. Any tips on how you could ascertain the cleaning and wildly toned color is due to cleaning? This would be a nice learning experience for me.

Well, it is an unnatural red in the center with obvious wear on the cheek and lower hair curl. It looks like it was stored in one of those old albums that has paper backing, so the reverse toned over totally, whereas the obverse just toned from the edges inward.

I agree with Rick's response. The short answer to why we both think this is "experience". The longer answer, at least on my part, is that AU copper that is 100+ years old does not stay bright gold or orange in the center. Therefore, someone cleaned this coin up at some point to make it brighter. Once copper is stripped in that manner it tends to tone quickly and with vibrant colors. This piece was likley dipped in something like Tarnex and then placed into an album nice and bright orange-pink.

I should clarify, It toned wild colors due to the album, but the cleaning made the colored toning possible.

But I'dadd that what prevents this from grading is the cleaning/dipping as apposed to the color. Dipped lincolns and indians, unlike dipped silver coins, don't grade at the major services.

For the record and a slight clarification worth mentioning - the toning is probably natural (even though it's only a matter of semantics) Though as Rick and Tom both said, only made possible by the freshly stripped surfaces being placed in contact with the album/holder.

There are examples of coins toned similarly which are true MS coins and those command a premium and can be very attractive. Those coins tend to have deeper emerald, then robin's egg blue and rose at the leading edge and the color is richer.
