  • Great looking PSA 5 Powdered and welcome back. I feel if someone is going to do a raw set, you would be better off doing the set in PSA 5-6. The cards would probably be around the same price and you would have the extra protection and provenance of a PSA holder.

Looking forward to seeing more of your progress Powdered

  • Thanks Frank. I am thinking 4-6 range. No way I can afford the Lansford in more than a 4. But, 4's can present quite well, so that's ok with me. I think an overall average of about 5 would be a nice respectable little set. I had about 45 a couple years ago, with most being 7-8, but my circumstances are different now and I won't be able to spend like that. I am also working on other sets too. Love the Bowman football cards. I still think Bowmans in general are severely undervalued.

Well, I rarely venture over to the Registry Forum, and was unaware this thread even existed. I also share the opinion, that the early Bowman FB sets are the best vintage football sets produced. While it lacks RC power, I think the '53 is my favorite. Very difficult card to complete in high grade. Anyway, I enjoyed seeing the scans posted by the other members, and I'll make sure to check back here in the future and hopefully be able to start contributing.

I happen to have the one and only (none higher) 1953 Bowman PSA-9 Ray Renfro SP RC in my all time Browns set. Any one have any idea of current value?

The last public sale of the card (which you probably were the buyer) was $1076. I'm guessing today it would be a $1200-$1500 card.
