I was the one that sold it for $1425 on Sunday night. 9 minutes after the auction ended, the buyer sent me a message asking if the corners and edges were sharp. I explained to him that Beckett gave both of those 9.5 subgrades and that it is a graded card and didn't understand why he was asking. He said it was a lot of money and he just wanted to be sure and that he would need a couple days to get the money together. Late Tuesday night he sent me a message asking me to send him a cancel transaction request because he didn't like the condition and didn't want to waste any more of my time. I haven't sent him one yet...I plan on opening an unpaid item dispute tonight. There is no way I am going to just let him off the hook for being ignorant and screwing up my auction. Not that an unpaid item strike really hurts you. The only way it does is if you get several of them.
By the way, his eBay ID is sportsmaniac4ever in case anyone wants to add him to your blocked bidder list...
Sorry to hear the buyer backed out; I know how irritating that can be. Best of luck with the sale.

<< <i>Nice looking card. I have to ask why you went BGS instead of PSA? >>
I am not currently a member with PSA...
<< <i>Love the continuation of derailing of BST threads with assumptions. Anyone selling should not have to put up with this garbage unless there is a real issue going on ie potential scam. Even if the buyer did post something up for sale 6 hours later, so what? People are flipping all the time. I feel bad that the OP has to put up with this garbage. Good luck on your sale! >>

I copied and pasted his message below along with my response:
Hello
I won the 1993 derek jeter under my other account, however ebay blocked me from email you. I asked for a cancellation what happened? Any ways I don't really want a damaged card ( I don't care what the grade is) any ways save us the trouble and send a cancel form or just let ebay do there thing and I will have them remove the unpaid strike do to damaged item policy
- bgs_rookies
My response:
Dear bgs_rookies,
The item isn't damaged. There is NO WAY I am going to let you off the hook by just giving you a cancellation request after you screwed up my auction. Good Luck getting eBay to remove the strike. I will make a phone call to them and let them know to read our messages...
Sorry to derail a little but I wanted to chime in here.
<< <i>how come the PSA 10 is worth so much more nearly 10x more? >>
PSA 10s are worth more then a BGS 9.5s because the PSA 10s corners, surface, centering, edges are all gem mint. BGS 9.5s might show a sub grade of 9 for corners, surface, centering, or edges. PSA will grant the grade of mint 9 for any card if corners, surface, edges, or centering are not gem mint. Also PSA is especially tough on these cards. Good luck pulling one and having it come back a PSA 10. I am sure it is possible. However the odds of it happening are like the odds in winning the lottery.
Edit add:
The one currently on ebay is 5 times what the last one sold for on auction which was $4,750. When the card was a population of 2 a PSA 10 sold for $32,000 by a fellow board member. Since the population has risen to 9 since then I haven't seen any sell for over $5,000. Also no PSA 10s have sold since he made the 3,000 hit club. I am guessing one would be worth around 5-7K now. Certainly not 25K like the one that is up on the bay right now.
I didn't have to do anything to my blocked bidder list...eBay automatically added it...
