Is it worth sending this to PSA?

I have a BCCG 9 1958 Topps #482 Ernie Banks. From a selling standpoint I am wondering if it is worth sending to PSA in hopes of getting 9, or should I be thankful that I can say I have a high grade vintage Ernie Banks. From what I have read BCCG cards sometimes get downgraded by Beckett and PSA. I just can't decide if it is worth it. I would be happy to posts scans. I am however not sure if it is allowed on the forum to post graded cards other than PSA for this sort of question. Thanks.

Just realized I posted in the wrong section. Sorry about that.

  • Please show scans, and it is not a problem to do so. Typically a BCCG 9 might only grade a PSA 5 or so, but we need to see the scans.

  • BCCG uses a different grading scale so a 9 is suppsed to be equivelant to a PSA 7 or PSA 8, but sometimes that is even a stretch. A BCCG 8 would be similar to a PSA 5 or PSA 6, etc., etc.

Thanks for the replies. I am working on scans to get additional opinions. I had a question on putting scans on the forum. When I went to upload it said I exceeded the maximum size amount allowed. Does anyone know how to reduce size or know how to get the scans on the forum and not run into the exceeding limit problem. Thanks for the replies it really does help as I have never sent anything in to get graded, so it is good to know how different grading works.

  • If you scan with the lid open it makes it easier to see the white borders/corners of the card.

From what I can see my "guess" would be a PSA 7 because of the centering, but let some better judges take a look and give opinions. You will probably want to break it out if you are gonna send it in.

It looks very similar to one i sent in that got a 6.5, I would say you should expect either a 6 or a 7. Its a very nice looking card.

Very nice looking card. I would think PSA would slab it in a "7" holder. GOOD LUCK.

  • Agree, I think your looking at a PSA 7, maybe 7.5 on a good day.

    I agree, easy 7. a 7.5 if lucky.
  • Probably a PSA 7, but 7.5 or even 8 wouldn't shock me. I've seen 8s that looks worse. I say it's worth subbing.
