My Topps Factory Set Display and Graded Card Displays

I posted my Roop set binder collection and people seemed to like it, so here's my latest creation. I got back into collecting this year and decided I wanted to try to put together a Topps set run. I got a single set from 1986-2010.

I really wanted a nice way to display them. After a lot of thought, I came up with an idea. I built 24 shelves, stained them, and put them up on my wall (with the help of a two-way laser alignment tool). Well, as many of you can probably guess, the collection started expanding. I decided to try to get every variation of Topps sets from 1985 to 2010. This means holiday/full-color boxes only, and then retail, hobby and home team advantage sets, as available. I did a lot of searching and, after doing the math, realized that it would fit perfectly on my wall. So I built another 35 shelves and started picking up the sets, one by one. The last two pieces to the puzzle arrived from BBCE yesterday.

For those of you keeping track, here's what you won't see:
1. Store-specific sets like Target or Wal-Mart
2. Team-specific or All-Star sets
3. Sets with the Mantle/Ruth cards on the outside
4. Series 1/Series 2 separate sets
5. "Cereal box" sets
6. Tiffany sets
7. Brown box and simple color sets (except 1985)

So there's a lot of room to expand! hah. The only set you don't see is a 1996 Topps set that has a 3-panel insert. It's the only variation to the set from the other two 1996 sets with Gwynn on the front.

If I am missing any sets that you're aware of, please let me know!

Separately, if you're looking to display a single graded or slabbed card or two or an 8x10 and a card, I am going to list some displays for sale in the For Sale forum.

I hope you enjoy.

You, sir, are out of your skull. But that is nicely done.
  • That display looks very sharp.

They made a 1982 factory set that is not just a plain box package.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, it's a little crazy and a lot of work for pretty cheap sets. It's a memories thing obviously more than a "look what I have" sort of thing.

The speakers are B&W. One of the nicer things I own, but I still love the sets.

I'm thinking about the 1982 set, but it's pricey and ruins the chronological order (that's at least what I tell myself to hold off).

Wonderful display and what collecting is all about. Enjoy the cards and not necessarily what they are worth. That display looks like a million bucks!

That is the coolest baseball card display I've ever seen! WOW!

I have a set run from 1973 to 2010 (base and traded/update; no factory). All of mine are in albums of the same type. They are simply on a shelf in my garage. I could never dream of a display like that. Awesome.
