Cris Carter hotly debated Skip Bayless over Tebow

You guys should watch this morning 1st and 10 Debate between Bayless and Cris Carter.

This time they really got upset, I can see Jay (this host) is kinda nervous seeing how Skip was really fuming and Cris Carter wasn't holding back ... Tebow makes everything more interesting

  • I am sick of people fighting over Tebow. A guy like like that should bring people together, not tear them apart. But it's not his fault. Just like all the media coverage. I am a BIG Tebow supporter and have been since he came to play here in Gainesville back in'06. However, my wife & i were flipping channels last night and it was INSANE how many were doing Tebow stories - all at the same time! Not just ESPN & ESPN2 either, ABC had something, Fox, a few others...wow. Like I said, I'm a big fan but I can see how someone might get burnt out by all the all to all Tebow coverage. I just hope people realize it's not Tim's fault, it's the media that keep running the stories (which of course they do because they know people want to watch/read/listen to them). I've heard (and even read on this forum) that people are sick of Tebow getting all the credit, that the team needs more credit, etc....please keep in mind this all comes from the media. Tebow is ALWAYS lifting up his teammates in interviews, never taking credit.

It is really hard to hate Tebow. He seems to be a very solid character and role model in our country right now when the younger generation could really use such a figure. He has worked very hard to achieve what he has done in the game of football and I say good for him for showing how much he truly believes in God.

Teams are going to eventually adjust to his style though and shut him down. He would be a better tight end in the long run but let him shine for now at QB.

I think Tim Tebow is a great guy and I pray he does well in the NFL. Our kids need role models like him. Heck, adults would do well to follow his example. As for Skip, Chris Carter and Steven A Smith, all of them need to relax. Both the Broncos team and Tebow deserve the credit. Granted he is not a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning talent, but people seem to love playing with the guy and are inspired by him.

Very well said. I would love to see a Tim Tebow / Colt McCoy rivalry. Two QBs who dominated college ball. Not going to be great NFL caliber QB's but are both smart.

The guy has a 83 quarterback rating and couldnt put up a single point for the first 3.75 quarters of last game

he won earlier this year with only 2 completed passes, and played QB the entire game lol

in the 9 games hes played he has only a single game where he completed more than 53% of his passes

"Mr. steroid freak" is barely getting it done, even if he actually is improving a bit....... he is a running back trying to play quarterback, a poor mans Steve Young

edited the QB rating, it did go up........ and the 2 interceptions in nearly 200 attempts is impressive

A better "poor man's" comparison would be Michael Vick. Runs good, but not the best passer.

Steve Young had hall of fame passing numbers AND was a good scrambler. Career 96.8 passer rating.

What's Albert Pujols have to do with it?

Anyway, I really HATED Tim Tebow when he was with Florida, simply because I'm an Ohio State Buckeyes fan. Speaks for itself. I happened to be in Colorado the week Tebow was drafted, and I've liked him ever since. He's just a likable guy, and he's doing wonders for the Broncos, and for the rest of the NFL for that matter. He's attracting new fans to the game, and it's all been positive so far. Some people just freak out when something positive happens. That's their problem I suppose.

nice one Tommy, at least we're not talking something serious like marriage huh?
  • I second the comments by brendan438 and TJMAC. Is there any harm in believing that something that, on paper, probably won't happen? Is there any downside to having folks that are either not NFL fans or not overly religious taking a bit of extra interest in watching a little bit of Denver's games, or maybe believing in a higher power? Maybe Tim Tebow is our version of Jerry Landers.

I don't see much down side to what's taking place.

  • So Tebow takes steroids? You really think a man that is deeply religious and an outspoken virgin would do that?

  • I actually like Skip Bayless. I didn't used to but after listening to him for an extended period, he makes a lot of good points in his debates. I don't always agree with him and I thought he got carried away a bit yesterday. As far as Stephen A. Smith, he gets just as animated as Skip, it's part of their show. I have become a fan of Stephen A's as well. I haven't always liked him, but he has grown on me.

Just because someone has a different opinion than we do, shouldn't make them a jerk. That is classic message board mentality. BTW, I applaud Stephen A for yesterday. He seemed to be the one taking the high road as Skip and CC made fools of themselves. Skip more so than CC

I felt bad for Jay, he looked really uncomfortable and Jay is one of the real class acts at ESPN IMO.

Yeah, especially when Stephen played the "How many rings do you have" card to Skip. FYI, Skip has just as many rings as Carter and Stephen. Zero.

    Heh.

  • I dont like Skip either. Ive tried to watch or listen to things with him on a program but always turn it. He knows everything. If you dont believe me, just ask him and he will tell you.

I also think Tebow is probably the 25th best QB in the league. Look at who the Broncos (make no mistake it isnt just him) and there is a list of, well, not very good football teams.

When they get behind NE this week watch how bad he looks. If the Bronco's D cant keep it close and he has to start chucking the ball around it will get ugly.

I don't have a strong opinion on Tebow, although he looked pretty good in the victory over my (hapless) Vikings.

What I thought was hilarious was Bayless' response after Chris Carter went on and on about his (quite impressive) football accomplishments and Bayless blew it off as meaningless. Chris just couldn't believe it. That's what really seemed to pi$$ Carter off the most. I must agree with Bayless on the opinion that because a player did it on the field doesn't necessarily mean that he knows more about sports.

The Chris Carters' of the world conviently forget that nothing has changed in this equation EXCEPT the QB. When an offense chews up the clock + plays mistake free football + when the word "punt" isn't a bad word - can make a rested defense look a lot better than it is.

On the other side- when a defense is forcing turnovers and giving the offense a short field- it can make them look better than they are as well.

I'm not a Tebow hater, but truth is he sucks for the first 3 quarters of nearly every game. During Tebow's suck time, I'd argue that McGahee has been more valuable in at least a few of the games. The only reason Tebow has been able to move down the field and put his offense in a position to make a late winning score is because his defense has continued to make crucial stops late. If not for this defense stepping up, there is no Tebow time.
Tebow deserves a lot of credit, he's been careful with the football and lately has made good decisions. But I think the defensive unit is being dissed by all this Tebow talk.
  • I entire team is playing better because they simply believe they can win with Tebow under center. Lastly, remember that teams have to account for Tebow on run plays, most particularly the option. Having Tebow running the option opens up bigger lanes in the middle or on the outside(for Tebow).
