I just completed a major trade which included a box of five 25th anniversary sets, a saint, and a few other coins with some cash for this beauty!
A big thank you to the US Mint for releasing these 25th anniversary sets
I currently have a VF35 as a type piece, but wanted an AU to match my $10. A very nice example and a big thanks to Rick for working with me on this one!

What do you think happened to make the raised areas near the rim above O(F) and E(S) in the VF35 coin?
Cud or die chip?
[Edit:] Thanks for your detailed answer.
<< <i>Very nice coins - thanks for sharing the photos.

They are die cuds. This is the variety:
Breen-6428, BD-4, High R.4. Bass-Dannreuther Die State c/d with two upper reverse cuds

That's my idea of turning modern Mint stuff into a real coin.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
