Parsippany Recap 12/11
Back from the show and boy it was worth the trip.
Got up early this AM and was on the road at 7:30am. Note the thrilled look of me traveling to the show this early on my 1 day off. Also shown was the overcast day and what happens on RT80 when you do nothing but drive emergency calls all day ( you forget where 55mph is on the speedometer.).

I arrived shortly after 8:30 to the show after getting gas and food and was able to get a close spot on the street. Lot was full by the time i got there.

Inside was a regular day of busy trading already under way. Not being here this early I wasnt use to dealers NOT here yet, but they did show up after 9.

Alot of silver being sold and bought. Selling was around 22x I was hearing. and plenty of silver to go around. I didnt hear or see much on the gold front. I managed to move most of my currency today to a few of my regular dealers. Making money on most of what I sold. Some for a loss but better than it going down further. I did manage to pick up a few coins. The highlight being a 1914D with a lamination error over the 2nd 1 and the D . The fact it was in an ANACs F15 / Lamination made me feel safe with the purchase. Even though I wanted a 14D for my Dansco book this piece wouldnt make it in there since its a lamination error and thats for my other collection. A few token buys from dealers I spent more than 30 minutes at their tables. Other pick ups included a 1960 D/D with a nice die crack on the reverse I didnt see till i got home, a 1961D/Horiz.D. a 1926 VF clipped cent, and 50 count bag of 1920 decade cents. Not a bad day My buying was very slim since noone had coins I needed or had a use for. So the hunt for the red chip-tober continues.
Going home the ride was nice with no traffic and the sun was out. Cant beat that. Might try back for February as I think since Jan 1 is new years they dont have a show then.

Throw in a few wine reviews and pics of other forum members, and you'll be giving Charmy a run for her money (so to speak).
I bought a toned Washington quarter for my type set and a 9/11 recovery silver eagle. The dealer wanted $50 for the 9/11 eagle, and I told him they sell for $150-$200 on ebay. He just shrugged it off so I bought it.
Other than that, I sold a bust half that was a prearranged sale.
No show next month as it lands on New Years Day.

SeaEagleCoins: 11/14/54-4/5/12. Miss you Larry!
The coins I tend to buy were almost non existant. What was there has been there for months rotting. I did end up buying one coin from "the public"
Some of the big players that come to the show did not come this month and once again fresh inventory was scarse.
Business was quite brisk for us selling many different type of items, from Russian Rubles t8 5o type coiins to generic stuff.... we tried to but but with many dealers they just dont know real market values..... for example one 1/2 cent which was in a AU holder bids in the two hundred dollar range....in MS the coin is $250 and I have bought some nicer ones in MS grades for $300-$400 hundred....this dealer had the coin marked $650 and even with his dealer discount he was in cloud nine.....
We offered silver at $34 an oz and yet people were not that interested... hmmmm strange since we see this weeks numbers as most likely rising..... we were offered way too many of the 25th A=Sets but passed since we see dealer bids dropping in the weeks to come....that coin set is musical chairs and we dont want to be left holding the bag when the music stops...
One thing that was quite popular and we sold almost all we had were the coin puszles that are hand made....if you have never seen them, see us at our table at FUN and have a look....these are really neat and not the same old thing!
There was very little silver on the floor...by that I mean bars... we bought I think was almost everything except from the new dealer who wanted $38 an oz from us and then came over asking me to sell mine for 15% back of spot....kid you got a lot to learn
It was nice seeing the usual forum members way too many to mention and we sold a really nice group of type coinffs for big money that had been in a vault for the past 20 years....nice fresh stuff....
On a sad note.... way too many fakes out there.... I dont know if dealers knowing sell this "dreck" or they are just stupid but we are seeing more and more and much better fakes.... we had slabbed morgans, sovergns, and other coins tha were bogus
We cut out early for security reasons and all in all it was a really nice day in NJ (except for you Giant fans) See you all out there on the road sooner or later...all the best, Jon

Hey atarian, I'm pretty sure that is the speed limit on Rt. 80. Any slower and you might get yourself run over
I felt the show was average in attendance, there was relatively no one there in the op's photos compared with 9:30 or so. I only bought one coin, a nicely toned 1928-D Lincoln in PCGS 64 RB from forum member centmaster.
I also heard there was to be no show next month, this is the first time in the roughly 12 years I have been going that there will not be a January show.
Lincoln set Colorless Set
It did pick up some after those pictures. I didnt want to snap more incase i got yelled at. My area is under radar so i spent most of my time ( when not selling things ) to sitting and trying to cherry pick 25 cent and 50 cent boxes. Less than exciting. But you should have said hi.
Come drive on I-95 where I live south of Philly and you'll be pulling your hair out. The middle lane is the slow lane, the left lane is the "Going 10 over" lane, the right lane basically goes the speed limit, and the people who want to actually drive at speeds they're capable of handling basically have to move between all the lanes to get around slow people that don't know how to drive properly.

Good try, but I am wearing a red jacket and clashing red hat.

<< <i>I love driving in North Jersey, everybody moves so fast, it's awesome. I also love how people move out of the left lane when someone is coming up and is going faster than them. Things move so... smoothly.

Every year, I drive the family to Disney World (the wife does not like to fly). As soon as I get south of Baltimore, no one knows what the passing lane is for. I always think "They should all come up to NY/NJ and learn how to drive". Of course, I am sure that they are all thinking "There goes another one of those creazy NJ drivers".

I grew up driving 100 miles round trip a day on Rt80 in Jersey. Things usually move well until you get behind an out-of-stater in the left lane
Leaving the Baltimore show on Thurs evening, though went well - everyone doing 80mph in all lanes north.

Bought a nice CBHD from joebb21, picked up a few misc things that halfcentman brought for me, picked up a few nice raw coins and some modern commems (?) from Larry (Sea Egle). Also did some business with a bunch of non-forumites. The show seemed slower than a usual Sunday at Parsippany, but definitely worth the trip.
