It is within anyones right to charge whatever they want to for the card or shipping. If you drive by a gas station and they are charging $3.57 for unleaded and you know of another station down the road who is charging $3.51 do you complain? No, you just go on to the cheaper station. This forum goes on and on about shipping charges.

Not fine and dandy to everyone. BBCE is on my saved seller list. I purchased a few for me more expensive cards from him. Well worth an extra dollar or two for shipping knowing there will be no problems. I've never dinged anyones stars but several have dinged BBCE. Mr. Hart has 5.0 across the board except for shipping charges which is at 4.8. It amazes me how there does not seem to be good working relationships between sellers and their customers. Many decide to take a chance with dealers they don't really trust and many sellers complain about the people they have to deal with.

i paid Steve $5 to ship me a PSA graded card several days ago.

the card was less expensive than i expected and my bid was more generous than the hammer price.

i figured i got better than $2 bucks worth of savings out of that auction.

can't say whether it's right or wrong to charge that much for shipping, not my place, so i left 5 stars across the board because i thought he deserved it.

i support the notion of adjusting bidding practices if it makes you feel better about shipping.

    seems to work.

<< <i>I did adjust my shipping down, but just noticed that a particular seller that everyone here knows and loves (Steve Hart -BBCE) sells individual cards on Ebay. His shipping for one slabbed card? Yep - you guessed it! $4. So $4 shipping is too high for me and I am not a top rated seller, but $4 shipping from BBCE is just fine and dandy. My how easily the fish are swayed...... >>

Could you do me a favor and link the plethora of INANE threads where Steve is COMPLAINING and WHINING constantly about something to do with Ebay?

    Thanks!

Steve doesn't have to complain and whine. He HAS his Top Rated seller status. His stars don't get dinged. Yet someone else charges the exact same thing and gets popped as 'excessive' shipping. The sheep live on! Double standards at its best!
  • I would imagine that at least a few times by now, someone from this board (or another board on which you post this same complaint about over and over*) has bought something from you, was perfectly happy with the service, but dinged your stars anyway just to watch you dance.

*This is strictly an assumption. I don't visit any message boards other than this one.

how does one go about becoming a Professional Star Dinger, anyway? Is there a vocational school? Do they offer online classes, or must I travel? Are there other advanced degrees offered, such as Professional Feedback Extortioner or Professional Plain White Envelope Sender?

i think you must join the Tour and win at least one qualifier to receive your exemption.

    however, beware.

once you leave the ranks of amateur, you can never go back.

There is a correspondence course for becoming a PWE sender, but it's REALLY hard to complete. The lessons keep showing up damaged for some reason.

assuming these courses can be completed, how has the economy affected these career fields? Should I be considering graduate school?

That shouldn't be too tough to figure out. Even the professional star dingers as you call them wouldn't want to risk ending up on bbce's bbl (not saying he would do that btw). I think his charge also includes insurance so that may be a factor.
