Just got a gut wrenching email from ebay

Received a selling limitation message from ebay:

Our decision is based on evidence from our records. We're not comfortable with your selling practices or business model, and we feel they don't help to promote a positive buying and selling environment.

I am LIVID! I just called them and they said that I was below standard in Germany and they linked me to an account that was suspended back in 2007. WTF? what can I do?

How many suspended accounts do you have, and why were they suspended?

did you ever answer that question about $90 or something outrageous for shippping 120 raw cards?
  • It's not just you. I got limited on my ebay account--changed up what I sold and sold something in electronics. One item. Now I'm limited to twenty items a month/1100 max value and every payment I get is held until delivery confirmation is confirmed and three days pass. And I have to call paypal every time to get them to release the funds...just not worth it to sell on Ebay anymore
  • 110*.8+$7= $95 for 120 cards that answers that question, what can do to appeal this?

Just in- a slap in the face i guess. Just got an email from ebay having the subject-

Important: Improve selling to avoid limitations

Your seller performance is below standard under the German seller performance standards programme.

You don't know for certain how many times you've had an EBay account suspended? Really?

  • thats the one they said it was linked to. The only suspension on ebay.
  • It really does suck to sell on ebay, they don't care about your selling record(mines perfect) or your paypal account record(also perfect as I've sold more privately then ebay), they still hold up your money tilll they feel like it and then the fee's suck as well as your hit twice, the selling fee and the paypal fee. image

Yup, the next person who has enough money that comes along will win, not because they are great necessarily, but because ebay sucks so much.

Why do you keep referring to Germany? Are you in the States or in Germany?

So exactly what was the trademark violation that you committed? Sure sounds like there is more to this than you are disclosing.
  • the trademark violation was back in 2007. Now they claim my selling practices are below standard under the German seller performance standards programme. This includes Germany Switzerland, and Austria. It appeared one of my buyers who purchased 40+ cards dinged my DSR's.

Those are not your costs, they are your charges. It is a mistake to think you can get away with such asinine prices these days whether you disclose them or not. Just as you are free to charge what you wish, eBay is free to limit you as they wish.

I don't overcharge on shipping and have all positives. Ebay put a limit of 100 items or $5,000 per month. Is there a way to have no limit?

    I am just curious.

C'mon Illiinifan912 it saves you tons of money to ship all those cards at one time. Put a cap on shipping or accept the consequences. It doesn't matter what you put in the auction describing the charges, buyer will clobber you for this. I suppose you would have been happier selling the cards to 120 different buyers?

  • Even though I only charge $.30 for extra cards, if some one were purchasing 120 cards I wouldn't charge them $90.

I'd probably charge them what ever shipping+ signature confirmation is.... So $20 is understandable... $90 isn't in any case - regardless of your 'policy'

  • << <i>im located in the u.s. and my costs are there in each listing. If someone wants 120 cards they would have to pay that if not then why bid. >>

Too funny that you're wondering why you're having problems.
  • Whether or not a seller would charge $90 to ship 120 cards is a moot point- because no buyer, anywhere, ever, would actually agree to complete the sale after finding out they were really being charged that much.

So OP what did you charge the buyer of the 30+ cards to ship to them overall and what did it actually cost you to ship?

LOL it sounds like you dug your own hole, especially if this person was charged anything more than $8 or so to ship that. Sorry but if you intend to profit off S&H and someone dings you for it you got what you deserve.

Walt, the buyer might be okay with it if the cards were worth $1 or so each because more than likely they won each card at a penny each.

This gut wrenching story is more than likely due to the baseball card equivalent of the Ipod that sells for 99 cents and costs $200 to ship. It's been discussed already with this seller less than a week ago, yet for whatever reason, he can't comprehend why ebay or anyone else would view this as shady behavior.

    NO

The person who left the feedback would have to update it. But, it's been too long for you to be more honest about your shipping "POLICY" and give a shipping refund.

    fox in the henhouse.
  • I feel like venting also. So back in April, I sold a guy in Seatle a few sealed packs of 2010 Topps Chrome football orange refractors. He kept emailing me from two differant accounts / email addresses wanting to buy more things off of me. I grew suspicious, and started wondering what was going on. Long story short, after notifying eBay I mailed him his items. He gave me negative feedback for taking so long to mail the card and gave me a bad mark on my dashbord. No issues with eBay since then. Then I get an email about "continue improving to avoid limitations" this morning. I called eBay and went postal on them. Im so sick of them coming down on sellers for no damn reason. This dashboard thing is the worst idea they ever came up with. I just want to throw my computer out the window.

Oh one more thing Mr. eBay, why dont you hire some people who can speak english and not route my call half way around the world!

Pretty crazy, but I believe the OP charged that much JUST FOR SHIPPING!!! IIRC, he sells most raw cards for .99 and then adds on additional shipping for each additional raw card shipped.
