Ben Stein says the end for gold

""There's no alternative." No, gold bugs, he doesn't think being long commodities is a long-term solution, either. He's actually terrified of gold.

Noting that investors who bought gold as long ago as 1978 would still be "licking their wounds" on an inflation-adjusted basis, Stein says it'll likely be the Chinese who pull the rug out from under gold this time. If and when the Chinese realize hoarding the barbaric metal has been a mistake "that will be the end for gold."

Awesome. I would sooner listen to a Beer Stein then Ben Stein. He was a deer in head lights in 2007-2008. I did like him in Ferris Buellar's Day Off though.........

Whoops. Maybe the worst call evah

Isn't he the one who made that stupid commercial patterned after the "Whack-A-Mole" game at Chuckie Cheese's?

    I rest my case.

If he never saw the gold bull coming in the first place how the heck can he predict the end of it? image

All I know is that he's made some pretty bad calls in the markets over the past 5 years. The kinds of calls that crush you for years.

Agree 100%. May be throwing the baby out with the bath water, but once an actor, always an actor...and actors are almost always deluded and disconnected from reality (few exceptions here...Reagan for one). Quick or easy wealth has a tendency to blind one to JSP's (me!) plight.

    agree

almost every star on TV or Hollywood can say something, anything and have their lemmings.

those stars tend to follow whatever is in the majority regardless so as not to hurt their popularity.

thanks for the other link MJ. Stein is really "falso" ( i did that in Italian just for you....any you know whyimage

It makes you wonder when a "smart" man like Stein is spouting garbage advice regarding investing. My guess is that he's just being paid to give the opinion of his employer. Just like when athletes promote a certain brand, which they probably don't use themselves.
