A couple of silver art bars that I bought today at a coin show...........................

image

image

A 1-oz 1973 United States Mint (USSC) "Old Barbary Coast" silver art bar (USSC-198A). I paid $45 for it today at the show (spot finished at $34.13/oz).

EDIT (11-5-2011): USSC is NOT United States Mint. I meant to say United States Silver Corporation. USSC = United States Silver Corporation. Thanks for catching that OPA. image

A 1-oz 1982 The Mint "Good Luck" silver art bar (TM-30). I paid $36.00 for it today at the show (spot finished at $34.13/oz).

I found 7 more of these JM Bill of Rights Freedom rounds...
I have the set of 10 already, but you just don't see these every day. They're beautiful frosty proof designs...

I also found these Pamp Suisse fractionals... I'll probably end up flipping them on the bay of E because people
like to pay a decent amount more than they are worth to me... although I do think the heart shaped
pendant is pretty neat... American Precious Metals

  • I picked up some Morgan and peace this week.

    Other odds and ends.

Bonus time is coming on 12/15, so I will have to try and talk the wifey into something nice.

I have been trying to buy the 1/2 kilo JM on the bay, unfortunately the seller has high expectations.

Ouch! Well, listen to your PT and before you know it you'll be up and playing raquetball better than you did a year ago.

The "Bodybuilder" art bar was minted in 1986 by Crown Mint.

The "Pledge of Allegiance" art bar was minted in 2002 by Silvertowne.

No mintage numbers were given in the silver art bar guidebooks but I suspect that these two are common silver art bars with high mintages. With a few exceptions, most Silvertowne silver art bars that I have seen from the '80's to current years are very common based on what I have seen on ebay and at coin shows. Some of the Crown Mint art bars are fairly common as well with that particular reverse type such as the one on the "Bodybuilder" art bar.

I have seen those on ebay selling from anywhere from as low as $15 to $30 over spot on ebay. That is not surprising to me since a vast majority of Coca-Cola silver art bars tend to do well on ebay. The following links are some the most recent winning bids of past ebay auctions:

This particular one fetched a winning bid of $92.01

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coca-Cola-Roanoke-VA-WWM-73-1-Ounce-999-Silver-Art-Bar-/260878597687?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbd937e37

I am going to speculate that this particular winning bid is probably outside the norm for this Coca-Cola bar because I have not seen a Roanoke Coca-Cola bar fetch this high of a winning bid on ebay.

Here is another Coca-Cola - Roanoke bar that fetched a $55 winning bid which IMO seems to fall in the norm in terms of typical winning bids with current spot at $34.13 for this type Coca-Cola bar:

I do not know how much you paid for it but that Coca-Cola - Roanoke art bar is an excellent find IMO. Congrats on your purchase. image

Thanks again for the excellent info..

A few questions that are probably on the bar (locked up and out of reach at the moment)..:

Whom minted it and in what year?

    Thanks!

That Coca-Cola - Roanoke silver art bar was minted in 1977 by the World Wide Mint.
