Maybe the streaks popped a bit more in hand than he thought they would.
That is a chunk of dough to spend on a coin ... and no matter how good the photos are, they're still just photos. As a first-class seller, I know you want all your buyers to be satisfied.
The "line" is dang near a scratch and the toning, IMO, is what kept it from a bag. I don't quite know the difference between a scratch and a very long bag mark, but this is one that is close. Nice coin, but IMO that mark could be way more distracting in real life and I side with the buyer. I do applaud your return policy, some people can't be happy with a certain coin. I have sold coins that some thought were average for the grade to others that got them upgraded. Who is to say what any one person will like.

Another example of why PCGS should not factor toning onto their grades. Its all subjective.
1. Reply, saying 'No problem'. 2. Issue the refund. 3. Block the buyer.
I had an issue a few weeks ago where the coin was a 1934-D quarter, reverse of 1932. The auction title stated it, the listing stated it and explained what the variety was, and the guy who won it for $20 contacted me before I shipped it to say he wanted to cancel the transaction because he thought he was getting a 1932-D for his $20.
I sent him an email thanking him for making me have to relist it and wait another week for it to sell, not to mention the bubble mailer and label I wasted prepping it to ship to him, then blocked him. Ebay is a bad enough environment for sellers already anyway, no time for BS.

Which grading factor isn't subjective? I can't think of one.
Coin grading is an exercise in subjectivity. Take away the subjectivity and you have nothing left.
IMO of course.

I wonder if any forum members will hesitate to bid on any of the OP's future auctions. If the high bidder returns a coin, the OP may start a thread discussing this transaction resulting in the winning bidder being blocked by other forum members.

It has certainly given me second thoughts.
Frankly, I don't understand it at all -- when I'm selling coins (or anything for that matter), my goal is to satisfy who I am selling to. If that means taking a return, so be it. And going public with it gives me an even more sour taste....in my mouth at least.
I was a bit surprised by this thread and many of the responses too, as I cannot even fathom acting in the way the OP and many of the respondents suggest.
But hey, that's just me, and YMMV.

I don't know the seller or the buyer. The coin is what it is. If the buyer doesn't want it, the seller takes it back. Customer service is imperative. It's as simple as that.

I'll go further and say that the OP was way out of line publishing (though since removing) the bidder's handle. While I personally found the coin acceptable, the buyer clearly did not and the buyer had the coin in hand. The seller tells him to return it, then comes here and trashes the guy's reputation after he does so. Makes me think twice about buying from the OP.

I stand by my post, Stephanie. While some may agree with my post regarding customer service, and piggyback my statements, please don't assume that I would ever return a coin I pull the trigger on. Especially a "BIN" or an auction I win. It would have to be grossly misrepresented. My thoughts on the guy who bought the coin is that he didn't want it after he saw it. That's all. Whatever way a guy "backs out" of a deal is no skin off my nose. It's too bad eBay doesn't hold bidders accountable like they hold sellers.

I wasn't and your supposition that I may be is illogical and unsupportable by fact or any extrapolation of fact. Was it your intention to trash his reputation behind his back? If you have a complaint about somebody, you should have the nerve to say it to their face. First you trash the buyer for returning a coin WITH YOUR PERMISSION, now you try to trash me as a "snitch" for calling you on it.
Stefanie is nothing but helpful when i was new to this boards. Offers her help and has helped me numerous times without any expectation of any payment in return. I have known her to be honest and her coins pictured as very very accurate. I too will not hesitate to deal with her or buy her coins here or in Ebay. I will always vouch for her as an upstanding person anytime...any place...anywhere
<< <i>I wonder if any forum members will hesitate to bid on any of the OP's future auctions. If the high bidder returns a coin, the OP may start a thread discussing this transaction resulting in the winning bidder being blocked by other forum members. >>
Nope...I have bid (but not won since others are richer than I am ) on the OP's coins and I would not hesitate to do so going forward. In the time of knowing the OP on this forum, and corresponding, this thread will not impact me. Anyone who is does impact...oh well. Also, I think she handled a few of the posters quite well in their assumptions and she did it in quite a pleasant way without letting it get to her.
Also, there have been quite a few worse threads about people returning coins.....have you posted similar on those about each of the OP in those threads? Something about Coinsarefun you don't like? Wondering why you would even ask if people will hesitate now after this thread....?
In business, the customer usually has a 3 day right of recission. So it's best to just get the money back to the buyer and get the coin back. It's good to vent and I side with the seller here, as I have wanted to come unglued on a few people over the years on eBay and in business. It's easy to empathize, too. Who cannot relate to the let down of a transaction assumed in good faith, to be complete ? Despite the excellent presentation and photos, this thread is proof that not everyone is going to be happy with their purchase. I still think the 3 day right of recission is a great protective measure and even the most diligent attempts on eBay can make for some hard feelings after all the fees and postages are paid and a coin is returned. But that's where it stops.

Stef is and always will be a number 1 in my book!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
I have returned and have had a few coins returned to me on on ebay, due to coin not looking in hand as pictures show in the auction. I don't know what the camera does or if it filters out some stuff. but some coins do not look the same. I am not saying this is or isn't the case here and I don't know the OP or buyer but I would not block someone for returning a coin if the seller states returns are accepted. I would just relist it and move on. No need to out the buyer in my opinion.
This is nothing more than a simple case of buyer's remorse. He paid $472 for a common date (though, to be clear, gorgeously toned) MS64 Morgan and either started freaking out, or perhaps saw a different toner at a lesser price elsewhere-and decided to take advantage of OP's return policy. From a seller's standpoint it stinks... I agree with OP's statements that the pictures clearly showed all aspects of the coin... but in the final analysis neither party should be mad... because the seller had a return policy, and the buyer used it. Simple as that. On to the next deal.

anyone bidding up a common date like this to that level with toning and the great images and ask for a return is a complete bonehead,
kudos for you going the extra mile to provide stellar images
i have large high-def monitors so I see the images as intended, buyer probably bought the coin from an iphone or is near blind
never in a million years would i pay that price, but that is why i didn't bid lol

Yeah , them buyers need to hush up and fork over the dough
Which actually is the premise or whole idea of an auction anyway one might think
Ebay said they were gonna be another Amazon and they meant it.
