First Spouse Series * Anyone here collect the whole series?

I was reminded today of previous mint induced forum madness and mayhem and now I'm wondering if anyone here has made any effort to collect this series.
It would be quite a sight to behold, all that proof gold I'm thinking.

I do have BU examples of the "Liberty" coins, which makes a nice sub-set.
The 1st Spouse coins are going to be, in general, very low mintage issues.
i recently started the unc. and and missing most
and while i can remember the initial onslaught in 2007 like it was yesterday i will offer this...
the first 3 spouses went out the USM door at $840 a set Prf+Unc...
so 4 years into the series you have done quite well on bullion value alone ..add a little premium for the numismatic value..you have done BETTER than quite well
personally i think this has been the best way to acquire gold bullion in the past 4 years.....and somewhere along the way you will catch the lowest modern in the last 10 years...don't know which chick wins the title....but it has the best odds...

With all due respect to your math, but had you invested the same amount of money at the same time into just plain gold bullion bars, you would have done just as well or even better...( less premium over spot)

Really would depend on how much someone is willing to overpay for either a first spouse or gold bullion. On eBay, I see folks overpaying for gold bullion, but they may also overpay for first spouses, too. Either way, mute point, as there are plenty other modern mint issues that would apply (and not just the first spouses).

You're right-- I wish I had started with the UNCs, one of each, PCGS 70 to take the the Santa Clara show. I bet they'd look awesome in a display case.
Also managed to make some cash in the beginning by buying an extra one from the mint, and selling them.
I'm doing the complete set in proof, PCGS certified, with one from across the street.
They are getting rather expensive with the rise in gold. The MS coins with the lower mintage seem to be doing better in the after market.
For a more affordable alternative I'm putting together a self slabbed set of the first spouse bronze medals in a Lighthouse album.
Along with a set of president & first spouse bronze medals, done the same way.
