If I made an agreement to sell, I would honor that agreement. Nothing to think about. Would I kick myself, yes probably.

    That's easy.....NONE

Actually I would honor also but not be happy about it. That's why I wouldn't presell

If it were me, I would. And, there are plenty of others I know on the boards that would honor it too.
However, I would not feel complete if i were a dealer as there could be some issues.

    Here's to honor.

A deal is a deal is a deal.

I always wonder when folks sell out for a buck if they ever stopped to consider how much money they'd need to make to go out buy a good name.

I get all my money back and a guaranteed PCGS 69 set from a box of five flip.

Two weeks before Xmas, I'm betting that MS 69 set is going to look good on feebay as the graded sets start arriving from the TPGs to the masses.

    Perfect storm.

I agree 100%. And because not all sellers will do this, Ebay has to step in and pull down pre-sales manually.

Based on that argument, since not all sellers in non-presale listings (or all buyers for that matter) will follow through and do as they say, eBay should end all the listings on the site.

Edit - it's a five coin set, very, very poorly described.

    "Already $550 dealer to dealer."

A quick look over there (CCE) and I see one dealer who needs some more and points out he is the highest bidder on the entire network at $485. Most of the buys I see are $425-$475 tops. Best I can tell, a large amount crossed hands at around $400/set.

I am not saying a deal might not have taken place at $550. But, it looks like the vast majority are trading well below that level.

I'll certainly be keeping an eye out to see if prices rise beyond the $400's.

First off this is not for a sealed box set either, if you read it that allows him to pull anything before shipping also his order date and time oct 28th? Boxes in hand will do good and yes a promise is a promise . Enjoy image

If this happens then they should be named.
  • Sure didn't expect anyone to admit they would back out just letting them know we are thinking about them. Would be easy though with so many not being able to get through. It was only one deal on CCE 50 sets @ $550.

A big spike wouldn't surprise me at all. If peeps are going to lose $100/set I'd expect sellers to bail. that's big money for small fish. And I'm sure it would go the other way too for many.

I dont understand what you mean there...who's losing $100 a set?
  • Wow, I'm glad I'll be grading all of mine. CMON MS70 SET!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Deal is a deal if it were me. But I wouldn't sell as a presale for anything. Buy.....maybe. Presales were probably a good buy in the low $400s a few days back. However, the chance of problems is high.

If you presell at 425 and market is bringing 550 you lost. If you did a 20+ set deal you really lost.

If the dealers offered 550 per and and you agreed on a 20+ set deal, then the mint opened the gates and dropped the price to 5%over spot($190/set), then getting your deal for the 20+ sets you presold is on edge to say the least. Companies don't say in business long that way.

You now have to obtain 3 more sets at market price to fulfill your end of the deal.

If you made a deal for 5, and you were able to order any, WHY would you only order 2 and not the full 5?
IN the situation you use, I would say you owe the dealer whatever you got and you pay the shipping, etc.
If I were the dealer, I would be reluctant to deal with you in the future because of the situation.

I'm pretty sure he was inferring on what would happen if the mint only shipped him two sets of the five he ordered? What then? You know, in case they changed the household limits from 5 to say 2 because of unmet demand from those that got shut out. Many pre-sales would put to the test and would not be filled.............In that case I think chaos would ensue. MJ

I think the dealer will take any sets you have and he will be happy you gave him any most did not get in or will back out totally so just do what you can and move on. The dealer will thank you for your help.

I would honor it. Just as I would expect the buyer to honor their side if the Mint cranks out 200 million more of these next week and crashes the market.

Really though I fear "the thread of bashing" which in itself is enough to keep me on the straight and narrow.

With your order number and last name he can verify on mint's "Track Order" page what was shipped to you. No log in requred to do this.
