Huh?
I doubt that any of those businesses wouldn't have suffered from the same problems the US Mint website suffered from yesterday. Most big businesses which can afford that type of presence don't sell 100,000 of a single specific item in a 4 hour time period. If they did, they'd have been just as slow.
Considering that a lot of the orders were telephone orders, perhaps they should beef up their telephone systems as well? How many lines would it take? How long would folks wait "On Hold" listening to that "Your call is important to us" message?
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
<< US Mint UHR's Prices have doubled since they went of sale.>> More like almost triple the mint issue price. Who says miracles never happen. I think it's great that an issue like this comes around every so often. Why shouldn't the collectors get a bone tossed to them every once in a while?

I was set up to order 50 sets but only got 5- I think!! at the end of the long and tuff 4 1/2 hr my poor pc will never be the same I will remamber this day. This was the tuffest one yet but hope i get one of the 5 set if not thats life.... good job every one keep your heads up and take the punchs. That is the American way.
Another thought. If the US Mint did have a better ordering system, a faster ordering system, wouldn't they have sold out even faster? Perhaps the current system as haphazard as it appears is a better system?

I logged on a little after noon and at 5:12 my order went through. Not a lot of fun and I can see why there are quite a few customers unhappy. Pretty sure I got shut out this time. If the mint was smart they would just shrink the order amount to fill all current orders. Sure a lot of people would only get three sets instead of their five but it would be the best marketing move they could make. Most people would still be happy with their three sets and all the people that got screwed after sitting there for hours would still respect the mint. Too easy so of course they won't do it.

I agree with you Jim............but, but, but.............then some folks would only get 9 sets instead of 15 for all their efforts in gaming the system.

<< <i>I wish the U.S. Mint would produce a million of these coins, sets, whatever so everyone that wants one can obtain one at the U.S. Mint price. >>

Untrue. They mint millions of the bullion SAEs and people want them
(it's just....at what price do people want an item....) >>

Don't stand corrected. I know what you meant:
<< <i>If they minted a million of them (the collectible 25th Anniversary Sets that is), nobody would want them. >>
Which is absolutely true. They eventually sell for just the bullion value.
Look at the 3 coin Proof BiCentennial Sets for proof.
