Warning to sellers. Ebay/paypal shipping SNAFU lets you ship twice.

Not sure I have this one figured out yet but I think I do. The relatively new ebay shipping that I hardly ever use does not (always?) write your shipping info into paypal. So if you ship your sales with ebay one day and then paypal the next, you can ship an item twice. Just happened to me. Fortunately, it was a repeat customer whose name I recognized as I was stuffing envelopes with silver and I held up the shipment this morning. Just went in and voided the second label. I generally use paypal multiorder shipping but have used ebay shipping a time or two when I was having trouble with paypal shipping or just had one or two sales to ship.
2 weeks ago a guy from the rural midwest called and said he had received 2 coins in 2 shipments 2 days apart. I couldn't figure out how that happened but thanked him for calling and told him I would drop a SASE in the mail. He suggested he would like to have 2 maybe if we worked out a deal. I sold him the 2nd coin for $15 less than I had in it and we were both happy. Now I think I know.
So it appears you need to use paypal shipping or ebay shipping but be very careful if you try to go back and forth.

with it automatically adding the tracking number to the listing, customers can just go to their purchased items ebay page and track their item(s) directly from within ebay and not need to go to the usps site - and as well sellers can do the same thing to find out when the customer receives their item(s) from the seller sold item page

I haven't used PayPal for shipping labels since they became available through eBay, and did not know that you could generate separate labels if you did. Thanks for the "head-up" on that glitch.

I've been using paypal multiorder shipping for years. Unfortunately, there have been occasional glitches in the system and when I call paypal they say "we're working on it but not putting much money into paypal shipping because it will be replaced by a new shipping system on ebay soon." "Soon" turned out to be years later and finally ebay shipping was unveiled. So now ebay has it's on shipping link and it works well, very comparable to paypal and even perhaps a bit easier for one or two packages. But it still doesn't have the batch processing capabilities that paypal shipping has so I stick with the tried and true paypal multiorder shipping. If you sell 20 orders in a day, paypal multiorder shipping imports all 20 orders and automatically sets them up to ship per the choices you selected in your ebay auction. It is all displayed on one page where you can review them, add signature confirmation to those that went over $250, combine shipping on orders bought by the same buyer, change services etc and then print all the shipping labels at once. Probably saves an hour of shipping time on a 25 sale day.
So a better question you probably should have asked is, "Why would you try the new ebay shipping when you have a shipping program in paypal that works so well?"
The answer is because it was purported to be even better than paypal shipping AND it is eventually supposed to be replacing paypal shipping. Hopefully it won't.
Paypal shipping automatically emails the shipping info to the seller and puts it in the paypal transaction and the ebay auction--actually more customer service than ebay shipping.

As soon as you generate an eBay invoice, eBay changes the listing to "Print a Shipping Label" despite that fact that you haven't actually been paid. Only after you click the "Print a Shipping Label" does it tell you they haven't paid. Seems like a waste of time over waiting for the notification from PayPal that you've received funds.
